well I've recently installed a axial .32 and a 3-speed trans in my savage that has the xl chassis plates. My problem is that I don't think my trans is shifting in either gear. Also my friend has a savage x that just demolishes mine. He hits the throtle from a dead stop and it lands on its roof, I hammer mine and it reves up right away but it seams like my clutch is slipping. I just replaced the clutch shoes(which were worn out) but its still the same. I'm also running the same gearing as the xl with xl tires. I've tried adjust ing the 1-2 shift to the point where the adjusting screw was almost backed all the way out. I was wondering if it is possiable that its stuck in 2nd gear. I've taken the tranny appart but it seams normal. Is there a base line that I sould start adjusting from? Any insight would be great!!

Thanks
Kevin

Is the slipper clutch tight enough? You might be just slippin, that would explain why your not shiftin too, and if so, your sipper pad is probably byby! Keep us posted on that please.

If it's really bad off the line, I'll bet it's in second. Backing off the adjustment only makes it shift earlier. Start turning it in about 1/8 turn at a time till it starts to shift, then you'll know you're in the ball park and you can fine tune the shift point.
When that's working, or if it's still a problem, post again and we'll see about your tuning.

Oh the slipper clutch is tight(I witnessed my friend smoke his and didn't want to make the same mistake)
As for the trans, when I first put it in it didn't shift at all and just figured it was in first gear but after amost backing out the screw right out and still not shifting i was thinking that maybe it's starting off in second(that would explain the not so much off the line get up and go) but wasn't sure if that was possiable. I was also wondering with the longer chassis plates should the axial have enough grunt to lift the front tires?
Well I guess I'll try turning the screw in for the 1-2 shift and hopefuly I don't have as much problems with the 2-3.
Thanks Guys for your comments

Kevin

When it's backed out too far, it will hit second as soon as you start to rev it, so it will be in second when the clutch engages. You won't even hear it but it will be a slug off the line, even if it's tuned right.
