HPI has come out with a 3 speed tranny for their Savage. Check it out in this months X-treme rc mag.

I borrowed some pics of the ad from the hpi-savage forum. I am certainly going to buy this part.

This looks cool I heard of this before but just passed it beucase it was all talk. I wonder if the extra weight will be worth it. It says it can go faster ... I wonder how much faster... This might be going on my truck if iti s a good price.

thats going to be very interesting...i think I'm going to give it a try!!i hope it is price efficent

Says "COMING SOON" so its not released yet? Maybe it will hit the hobbyshops before X-mas.

oh my god. i need that.
i think the weight wont be much of a trouble. these gears dont weight that a lot.
well if its out i wil give a review on it. caaauuse iam sure gonna buy it.

It says its going to be realesed in time for christmas!! and a video of it in action will come in a week.

Thats really cool looking. I can't wait to see the video when it comes out. Hey Doggie what is the top speed of the truckzilla anyway.

ugh... Hot Bodies never told us the top speed, so I can only tell you the theoretical top speed, but here goes...

Assuming that the claimed top rpm of 23,000 is achievable and my calculation is correct, using 49T spur, truckzilla clutchbell and 7" truckzilla tyres (not the fireball ones), on second gear it should be able to do about 53.9 km/h (33.7 mph) lol...

I haven't seen mine hit second gear though, but heli fuel might change that.
Now I wonder how I can beat the T-Maxxes and REVOs at the track (or stock Savage 21 even!)...
Even if the 3rd gear will give 10% more top speed: 37.1 mph... lol...
Maybe the superior acceleration will win the day... perhaps...

extra weight? your kidding... its basicly adding 2 extra plastic gears. thats nothing.

You are forgetting that first gear in the 3-speed trans is steeper than first gear in the 2-speed. With a steeper first gear you could go with a bigger clutch bell (like a 17T or 18T), gain even more top speed, and not lose acceleration compared with your current clutch bell and 2 speed.

Nope, I noticed that they said 10% more low end. But the thing with the .46 engine is that it uses an extra large CB which is only available in 17T. With 4.8HP engine, I would want a 20T CB :D Someone else has tried using the regular flywheel/clutch assembly but they won't fit the .46's shaft.

I think the engine is really meant for use with the massive Truckzilla tyres (or the Jumbo Kong even). A high rpm engine would be nice for regular or Maxx sized tyres.

Says it coming out in time for christmas.Looks like I don't have to spend any money on it :). They have some info about it on their website. No idea of the cost though. Anyone go=t an idea based of regular tranny costs?
