Hey guys, I was wondering if that new 3-speed tranny has come out yet for the savage 25??
Do you guys think it will make a difference and will be worth it?
And does anyone know the pricing?

Another question.
Has anyone put the sh 28 motor on a savage yet?
Do you guys think its worth it and it made a difference?

I am trying to think of the possibilities of having these two mods together??
:devious:

Bruce at RushRC has the 3-Speeds listed on his site. Check out the New Savages?? thread in his forum. It will defienetly make a difference but the pricing is a bit high. On Bruce's site they are 80$ ish for the assembled 3-Speed and like 55$ is for the unassembled kit.

As for the engine, I would go with a Wasp .28. The Wasp will give you higher RPMs, thus, giving you a higher top speed which sounds like what you are gong for with these two mods.

If you want SICK power, go with a Nova .28 8 port, Model # R528XRP. I can do wheelies @ 30 mph while runing an 18t pinion and LST tires, it wheelis so violently that it flips backwards then forwards. The Novarossi/ Rex motors are worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't waste your money and time with a Wasp. Yes you can spand half the cost, but you'll spend a lot more in time trying to get it right. My Nova.28 is blistering everything, does wheelies in the sand and I'm only running Fantom 20% @ 210 degrees.
You get what you pay for!

I have a 3 speed on order from Bruce and will let you all know how it goes with my WASP 28.

Sgt Blamo, have you ever run the WASP .28? Just wondering because your statement is pretty strong regarding what a waste of money it is. What do you mean by spendnig more time trying to get it right?

Plenty of people on a very lage savage forum have bought SH .28s and love them over the Wasp, Diablo, etc. I bought one but it's too cold to break a motor in around here.

I'm not trying to pick a fight over what is better, the SH or the WASP vs Novarossi etc. Matter of fact, I'll be picking up an SH 28 when my WASP craps out. Just wondering if Sgt Blamo has ever run a WASP to say it is a waste of money. IMHO it is a bargain of an engine and in the $150 range the WASP and SH 28 are top performers.

Yep, I went ahead and ordered mine from Bruce a couple days ago. I ordered the assembled version so I'll have an extra center diff in case this one should fail.

Hope they come in on time as I am VERY VERY excited to get it installed!

Sorry, I re-read my post and can see how I could come accross wrong, that was not my intent. For the money, the Wasp is supposed to be a good motor. No I,ve not owened or run one, but have talked with quite a few people who do own one. You get what you pay for. The higher quality Italian motors definately deliver what they charge you for and have a much more usable power band.
Hope I didn't offend anyone.

I didn't want to pick a fight Sgt Blamo, I guess I just got a little sensitive with you bashing my WASP! :hammer:

My apologies if I came off like a jackhole (ask my wife I do it all the time!)
I'm glad to know you like your Rossi. Keep us informed on how you like it! I think you and Mark Allen are the only ones running them on the Savage.

Have you beefed up your drivetrain to handle all the extra power?

Oh yeah, it's all modded up. I'm waiting on my lengthened & lowered TVP's, then I'll install my LST shocks. The thing wheelies @ 20 mph with the LST tires and an18t pinion! It has so much power that it flips over violently, and top speed is probobaly in the 48-50 mph range (non verified).
There's no such thing as too much power! I'll post some pics shortly and a video or two.

There is something for you to think about. I am sure the wasp has a high rmp just like the diablo and the gears shift at a certain rmp not mph. so with a high rmp motor was thinking was that it would spool up way to fast and it would be in 3rd before you knew it.. I know in my dad picco you can't hear it shift(unless your going slow)
So would a 3 speed really help you with a .28.... That is my question

I think it would. You can adjust the shift points to the optimum shift point for your engine, so you can get all the RPMs you can out of it before it shifts.
