3-Speed Savage Adjustment

I'm kind of a newbie to rc's and i got a savage about 6 months ago. I have been sick of having it stock and wanted to get some extra power out of it. So i went to the local hobby shop and dropped about $200 dollars on a 3-speed and reverse module. I got the kit so i built the 3-speed on my own and then installed it. :hammer: I got my savy out and it ran perfect but it wouldnt go into 3rd, so do i adjust the 3rd gear in the tranny where u adjust 2nd gear?

You didn't oil the gears when you built it did you? Those trannys are made to run dry. If you oiled it, that will make it not shift into third, and maybe eventually not even shift at all.

well i ran it the first time then after that i oiled them and havent ran it since

I'd clean the oil out ASAP, that'll kill your new transmission.

After you clean it up, I'd call HPI and ask one of their techs on how to adjust it.

Does it shift if you hold it in mid air?

I personally don't own a 3 speed, nor have I seen one. I'm just taking a few shots that I know of.

i have held it up and it hasnt shifted so yea i think ill give hpi a call thanks

3rd shift

also make sure your truck is tuned right not reaching high enough rpms will keep it from shifting.

I think if it's turning enough rpms to shift from first to second, that should be enough to shift from second to third.

Right after break in I had a problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd but after I got it tuned it shifts perfect.

i think maybe the problem is that the problem is is that the weather up in pa aint so nice, its cold i thinjk that might be the problem

Try wrapping the head with aluminum foil, it will help get the temps up.
