Well,my x 4.6 rtr is scheduled to arrive Tuesday. I'm excited but nervous. I am really worried about figuring out how to work on nitros. I've read that one of the 1st things to do is shim the differential. I've looked at how to's and it seems over my head. I read somewhere that the diff comes greased but without oil. Is this true? I've broken in many big motors and replaced rear ends. But never on a rc. Well,I've replaced rc electric motors and gears but that was 20 years ago. I know the steering servo needs to be upgraded but that will have to wait a bit. Most of you have answered many of my questions already and I thank you. I still have to make a drive to the nearest LHS for fuel and probably a good quick charger. Any inexpensive parts I should plan on buying while I'm there? Things that often break and are good to have as backups? It's about a 45 min drive so I want to get what I can while I'm there.

You're gonna love that truck!! Just got my first and it's been a blast. I busted my first a-arm today, luckily I had a spare!! It's always good to have a spare glow plug and if you haven't bought one the rechargeable battery for the Rx is a must. These trucks eat AAs like candy. I can't think of anything that breaks often enough to need a spare but then again I haven't been bashing for very long. As far as shimming the diffs, if you have mechanical experience it's not as hard as it seems. If you need help just ask here on the forums and we will do what we can to get you fixed up. Until then enjoy your new Savage!!

I would pick up a couple of extra glow plugs. I run OS LC4 medium plugs and they seem to last pretty good and a couple of extra spur gears just in case. You should inspect the gear mesh between the clutch bell on the engine and the spur gear on the transmission before you start the break in.

I've been wanting a 2011 X 4.6 , locktight all metal to metal screw's , seal the engine use lucky 7 , read up on break in , back flips are addicting and you will have four more trucks in no time :)
