hey guys, I'm new on here I've owned a few tmaxxs before but i just picked one up from a buddy and having some issues.

1. it had been sitting for about a year with some fuel in it, so i drained it all, made sure the lines and carb was cleaned and oiled the motor.
2. i put a new glow plug in it
3. when i tried to turn it over with ez start the starter would spin but not turn over the motor.but every once in awhile right when i hit the wand button it would turn over once but then the starter would just spin again. i pulled the cooling head off to check the piston and sleeve and with the head off the engine will turn over freely.

what would cause this? would it be a one way bearing? i have returned everything to factory setting so i could tune it and the engine was getting fuel.
Thank You

that happend to mine the other day but that black thing that goes on the shaft was turned so the flat ends wernt in the right place

Well also this might be the issue. The plastic peice that the OWB sits in might be cracked so all thats happen is that plastic peice is just spin around the owb but not moving it. It might be able to move when your first press that button but as soon as that piston gets to the intake and compression stroke (since its a two stroke the intake and compress stroke are in the same stroke and the same as the power and exhaust) and the torque required to continue to keep turn the OWB is to great to where that plastic parts just spins around the owb because of it being old or crack...something like that :D That why i wish i could find metal one to replace that cheap plastic peice... ( i tried to look for the right name for that part but they dont label it. >>,<< but just run to your local hobby stop and buy a new ez start gear set i think they are like 5 to 10 bucks. But eh if that doesn't fix it well then its just like what the others said.... The OWB... Or your OWB is backwards :D

heres a tip for the EZ start.. you can rewire two batterys to get double voltage. dont make the change permanent you may want to put it back to stock. it starts better. but dont crank for more than 20 seconds straight. it may over heat the motor. all though i have cranked it for 30 seconds with no heating. if it does not start something is wrong. going to the wild side you can use a small amount of gasoline in the intake to start easier. it has to do with the flash points. new subject back cover. drill a hole in the back cover. then you can use spray cleaner to clean oil in the OWB, with out taking the back cover off. it seams to work for me.

Well I cleaned it and it worked for about 30 minutes then started doing it again. Gonna go ahead and buy a new one tomorrow. But at least I got to run it for a little while!!! Also it's dumping way too much fuel. Already burned up the glow plug. So it looks like ill be headin to the hobby shop tomorrow to drop 30 more bucks on it lol oh well it's worth it

the extra fuel is doing in the OWB. tune it right before you get a new OWB. i have found that the OBW last a very long time if you keep oil off of it.

Clean it again and get er tuned in. Bearing is probably fine. What fuel are you using? Excessive oil in the fuel adds to this problem. 12% oil is plenty.
