Hey guys having an issue with my revo 33. Maybe it is just me?? I will be racing aroung on flat loose dirt. After about 1/2-3/4 into a tank the truck will start to bog down in turns, then all of it takes off like a bat out of hell.. the heat level does not exceed 240.. is this just the truck catching up???? Or is it a tuning issue, glow plug???? not sure. Thanks for any input....

Sounds like you may be running a little rich on the HS needle.

If you leaned it a little and it still does it, then you need to repeat the process until it stops. Be sure to only make little changes each time (1/8th turn).

Here is a tuning flow chart that is very helpful.

Robmob, you don't think it's going lean and flaming out? My Revo reacts very similarly when the HSN is a little lean and it never sends temps. over 220.

When I had my Revo 3.3....the engine ran like crap until I tuned it to the point where it was running 280+. So with the 3.3 it's pretty hard to tune for temps from what I have found. Some run GREAT at 230...others don't come alive until they pass 270 or 280. The TRX 3.3 has a WIDE range of temps that they run great at.....so ignore the temps (unless you are upwards of 300 degrees+) and tune to the way it runs. If it doesn't run great until your temps get up higher...then so be it.

If you can go wide open from a dead stop and the truck doesn't bog at all through the RPM range AND you're getting a good trail of smoke....stick with it. If it bogs down low then takes off like a rocket...your LSN is probably too rich. If it takes off like a rocket, then bogs down...your HSN is probably too rich.

Just be aware that as you lean the HSN....it will also lean your LSN, which is why most people recommend tuning the HSN first, then coming back to tune the LSN.

He does not state that it's flaming out.

Also, if you are a little lean I would expect your temps to be higher than 220.

Flaming out is when your mill just dies. Normally caused by a lean condition that causes the engine to be starved for fuel.

If it won't idle consistently....your tune is off. Go back to factory settings...and start over ;-)

There's alot of great advice in this thread for ya, but it sounds like you have a classic low fuel lean issue here. When you turn the fuel gets away from the pickup long enough to put an air bubble in the line, it gets to the engine, bogs it down (lean bog), then it takes off. The only thing I've found that really works is to get a better pipe, and keep the tank filled up. I don't let my tanks run low anymore for this reason. You can also try experimenting with different fuel line configs and maybe a filter or primer bulb.

just an update.... come to find out it was the fuel tank.... Tank was not sealing properly when closed... Changed it out and go figure the problem went away... Thanks for all your help.............

this is so common it's scary. richen your HSN 1/8 of a turn and your LSN 1/8 of a turn at a time until the bogging goes away. its usually the HSN being too lean because of traxxas's lack of a mid range needle.
