I started the tmaxx up today everything was good, the low needle still was a little rich so I leaned it out. there wasn't any unburnt fuel anymore and there was good blue smoke coming from the exhaust at full throttle. well when I would let off the throttle it would still be idling really high to the point where the car would keep moving at a fast jogging pace. I was going to turn down the idle but when I hit the brakes the idle came to normal. I dont know whats going on here but I dont like it. I figured I would just run the rest of the gas out before storing it to research and 2 of the 3 clutch pads dissapeared and it wold not move anymore. since it wasn't moving when i hit the brakes it didnt bring the idle down at all. by the time I got to the car (It was down the road) the engine had started smoking a little bit hope I didnt ruin an engine.

sorry for the long ramble. just to clarify I want to know how to get the engine to act normal. Also if anybody has a "how to" on changing a cluch it would be helpful.

Sounds like the throttle linkage needs adjustment. Inside the carb, your slide should have a 1mm gap or slightly less , and when closed it should rest against the idle screw firmly. The linkage should provide a little bit of spring tension to help keep it closed at idle.

You said: "there wasn't any unburnt fuel anymore". Nitro engines must have a little spit coming out the exhaust at all times. The thing to do is tune the engine for performance.....not by smoke color or temperature.

How's the temperature outside? Is it cold?

Yesterday was not bad at all it was in the mid 60's. When I say there wasn't any unburnt fuel coming out I mean I didn't see any however after running it there is a tiny bit on the tip of the exhaust.

Ok, it should be spitting a little, and if it can idle for at least 20 seconds that means the lsn is good or a tad lean.

Sorry to jump on your thread. But I am suffering the exact same problem.

To pick up in what 2Revo1Maxx said.

My car will idle forever. Is this not how it should be?

While I've never heard of it bieng a bad thing I would say if you can get a solid 10seconds of idle without it loading up and stalling than you would have a pretty solid tune for your idle. Anything longer is just extra frosting on the cake! Its all good!!

So if I read this right I might be too lean on my LSN? My pinch test is approx 4 seconds.

It should idle for at least 20 seconds on the rich side and as much as a couple minutes total.
What you need to look for is throttle response after a 20 second idle. It should only begin to 'load up' after 10-20 seconds. Any less than that and it should snap right off the line when you hit the gas.

Thanks very much for your help. I'll try this next time out.
