ok what i want to do is be able to have 4 wheel drive when i need it but for the rest of the time i want 2 wheel drive that locks so both back wheels spin so is it ok to take the drive line on and off the front for the 4 to 2 wheel drive then when i have the drive line off for the 2 wheel drive i want them to lock how do i do that

Buddy I am having one hell of a time figuring out what you want to do. I hate being critical but to help you I have to actually know what you trying to do to give good advise. I "THINK" what you are asking is if you can pull off the front driveshaft and then lock the rear diff? The first question is yes you can pull the front shaft no problems. It will be a bit more crazy to drive and if you lock the diff also it will handle just like a nitro powered Tyco toy. Might I suggest filling your rear diff with some 80k diff oil? It will give you some very good possi action but will still function as a diff when you turn. Also locking a diff is very hard on the entire driveline....I would NEVER drive a locked diff on pavement. That is asking for breakage. I am only guessing here that is the question you were asking. In the future please try a bit of grammar skills since not all of us speak text messaging it help us answer your questions. Spend the time to write a clear question and we will spend the time to give you a clear answer.

Just take the front driveline off, and enjoy the eventual breakage of your rear shaft.

Although you can use Revo drive cups and an HPI 77mm dogbone to beef that puppy up a little bit...

The the 2.5 s-maxx was a 2wd.. i dont think it would be an issue unless a locker was put in the differential and it was driven on a hard surface

Tmaxxlover make sure you take out the two shafts going to the wheels, not the center shaft, it keys into your brake rotor you're gonna want to be able to stop. It's not gonna stop well but it will stop.

That actually is true. he would have to pull the shaft apart. But if he pulls the outer drive shafts they have the axles the wheels ride on attached. If he took it apart at the lower knuckle he would be GTG though. Either way it is going to be breaking down a shaft.

Good point I forgot about the stub shafts. I guess I've never tried two wheel drive on purpose, but I've broken a few shafts!!
