RC Driving Style
How to install a two speed upgrade in my sportmaxx and what else will i need, besides what comes from traxxas. Thanks
 
you only will need the stuff from traxxas that they give you.
The instructions will tell you too take off the whole tranny, open it up, and completely replace everything in the tranny with the 2spd that comes in the kit. it is quite simple. i had it done in about 10 minutes. dont worry! its easier than you think. and it may not shift right away when you nail the throttle. what i do is to warm up the shifter i puck up the rear and gunn it till it shifts. then it will shift very nicely. also dont panick if you dont hear it shift. you will see the difference even if you dont hear it sometimes.
 
cool....should be in this weekend so i will be able to beat my neighbors T-maxx...he is talking way to much crap
 
just incase you didn know his t-maxx already has a 2speed so i dunno if youll all of a sudden beat him it will be close if you both are sporting the 2.5
 
He'll still have the 4-wheel drive advantage over you. This is a minor factor if your driving skills are honed and your race doesn't involve climbing steep hills or tackling rough terrain.

Kick his ass.
 
my friend has a t-maxx and with the sportmaxx you probbably could beat him on road, because a lot less weight. i personally have a sportmaxx and i geared it with a 64t spur gear and beat his ass on road, then changed to a 74t spur, and beat his ass off road.
 
yeah...i definitely have the driving skills on him...he has only had it about a week...Horse-power to weight i will have the advantage.

My Sentiments exactly. I always love it when I wife the smirk off some dudes face that talking nitro trash..ha.

As for 2-Speeds, offroad you definitely don't hit the RPM's as often to shift into second as it's a low traction surface. This isn't saying your not going to hit second but it's not going to happen as often. Adjust yout shiftpoint on road and you should absolutely hear it shift into second.
