How can I tell if my 2.5 shifts into 2nd gear? I try to listen to it but can't distinguish it. I know you can adjust the transmission to where you want it to shift but I never touched that adjustment since I bought the tmaxx. I don't have a speed meter see how fast it goes but sometimes I think its not goings its fastest.

It should be pretty easy to tell when it shifts. Look in your manual, and it tells you where to adjust it.

You will definately hear it. There's no question that it shifted. Proper engine tuning also affects the shift. Does the engine perform well? If it does, then you need to adjust the shift point.
There's a rubber cap on the trans. Pop it open and rotate the spur gear till you find the hole. Hold the spur gear at that point and rotate the end shaft sticking out of the front of the trans to line up with a grub screw.
To adjust the shift point, think of it as a clock that's now at noon. You want it to shift earlier, so turn it counter clockwise, or back to 11. 11 is earlier than noon, so it will shift earlier. Try the car and see if it shifts. If not, adjust it a hair more. Be CAREFUL. just do it a little at a time. If that grub screw comes out, you'll need to tear down the trans to get it back. It usually takes 2 or 3 adjustments to get it to where you want it.

By the way, there are two grub screws that you will see when rotating the spur... one holds the clutch to the shaft...one changes the shifting point...

OOPS.......absolutely.
DO NOT turn the one that is in the center, but adjust the one that is off at a slight angle.
Thanks for catching that, .21Rc10GT.

Yeah, that wouldnt be fun loosing the clutch in there... might break somethin. I only know that there are 2 screws because i replaced both 1st and 2nd gear in my tranny about a week ago!
