picco.26 , wasp .26 ,siro .27 and fantom .27

I have a question what spur gear and clutch bell do you use and hows it been working out for you?

Hmmm I have been using a 15/52 stock stuff up until now. I just purchased last night a RRP Steel set that is 16/48 and think I'm going to love it. I have been getting way too many stripped spurs for my liking though.

I've been using a 18/49 combo with my picco .26. Nice accelleration without picking the front wheels up and great top speed.

i just bought the 16/48 off ebay the other night,i hope its a good combo....it sure looks like its going to a awesome day to make some dust...oh i guess its always beautiful I'm in hawaii...hehe:spam

HB111 I think you are going to be happy with the performance of the 16/48 setup from RRP. I was a little nervous about purchasing mine since I haven't ever bought anything from there before. Well I am stoked with the setup. It is nice and beefy and looks like complete quality.

I'm running the hardend 52/14 setup and its just to much torque now with my fantom .27

My robinson steel 52/14 with my fantom .27 is way to much torque and i will break something soon like the trans or the 4 spider diifs.

Does anyone have a link for steel 48/16 cb/ spur gear?

Tyson check out ebay if you do that. Look for a seller by the name of hobbieguyrc he has a few in stock and sells them cheeper than anyone I have seen. $29.99 plus shipping which is dirt cheep. Otherwise ya might check tower.

Anyone else want to reply on what gear setup your using.

LOL dude the only thing I'ma ad here is make sure your mesh is right. I was able to strip an RRP setup in all of three tanks. You haven't seen anythinge till you have seen sparks coming off or your spur gear and clutch bell. LOL

For such powerful engines I would try to stay in the 2.5 to 2.75 gear ratio range. Once you go over 3.0 you'll lift the front end almost every time.

just my opinion

rob i will take your advice and keep the gear ratio under 3.0
maybe 49/16

I have a wasp .26 and i was running the stock 18/49, and i kept chewing up spur gears. I think that it might have been a little to much torque on the plastic spur gear. It would take every tooth clean off. I have since switched to 15/52 (still plastic) and it seems to be holding up so far. Although i do pull more wheelies than i like, but its better than replacing a spur gear.

yeah thats a 3.46 ratio.

The biggest problem I had with the 18t cb was that I had to move the engine over so far to the right that the bolts that hold the engine mounts to the block were wedged under the opening in the frame. It made it REAL difficult to get the gear alignment just right. I chewed up my spur in less than one tank. After dremeling out a bit of the frame (just 1mm or so) i was able to get the correct gear mesh and I've been through about 6 tanks so far with no signs of wear on the spur at all.

do you mean the 49/16, i had them till i stipped them, man what a waste. i would not go with them, they are too much cash.

pissant i have been using a robinson steel 52/14 combo , i was thinking of getting a ofna 16 CB for the 52
