Hi, just received my new Savage, can I make the engine break in with 25% nitro fuel? I've seen in the manuals to use 20% only but my LHS only has 16% and 25%

I'd see if your LHS can order some 20% for break in, after you break it in you can probably go to 25%, but I'd stick to the manual for the initial break in.

I think I'll mix 16% and 25%, that will make nearly 20%.

You can break in an engine with 10-20-30%. Unless stated otherwise by the manufacturer. I'm not sure that I would mix nitro content. Let me know what happens if you do

You will have to make ajustments to the carb if you break in the engine with any fuel other than what's recomended.

If I had to choose between the two,I would use the 16%....less heat, more lube....:>)

Your engine will probably run hotter with the 16% content. You can run it a little richer on 25%

You can use from 20% to 30% for break in.

The above statement is incorrect. Once your engine is broken in you will find that a higher % if nitro will make a properly tuned engine run cooler. The trade off is the ease of tuning.

Get any good brand name 20-30% and you will be fine.

FastEddy is correct. At first I was running 20% O Donnells and then I switched to 30 %. My O.S. ran much cooler and had alot more balls, I was impressed how much faster it was. By the way FastEddy, great sig.

By all means DO NOT mix the 16% & 25% you won't have the exact %. When u break in use 10-20-30%. Once u choose a % u can change brands, but not the %. Example if u start with 20% stay with 20%.

Thank's yesterday I started the break in with 25%, hopefully I'll start to close neddles this morning and tomorrow I'll be ready to test the car on my tarck
