I'll get a failsafe eventually, but I think a good battery will do fine for the time being. Plus, i've still gotta buy riding gear for my motorcycle.

lol, isn't that funny, i'm riding my motorcycle with nothing but helmet and gloves, totally unsafe, then i'm willing to run a 5 pound r/c car at like 50mph without a failsafe. Someone shoot me.

Anyhoo, failsafe will probably be bought sometime after the car is running. Dunno if i'll actually run the car that much, it's geared way too low and the stock tires suck ass.

========================================================

Edit: just a little change. Installed the throttle/brake linkage and a receiver wire straw. Everything's ready to go, just need another servo and to receive AC48's exhaust. Can't wait to actually drive the car.

I'll video tape it once I get the gears and foam tires. But for the first few runs, the car will definitely be slow.

=========================================================

Anyhoo, small update:

Bought new springs and shock oil:

80wt. on all 4 corners
272g/mm springs on the rear
264g/mm springs on the front

I put as much preload spacers in as I could, suspension feels nice and stiff. Ride height is around 8-10mm for the front and rear.

Well hopefully I can do the first test drive early this week, and if everything goes well, I may try making a video.

Anyhoo, small update:

Trimmed the Lotus Elise body that came with the car, the stupid owner did a crap job with the body post holes. It doesn't line up very good so i'll eventually have to buy a new body. But the Lotus will work for now. Also modified the backing plate for the engine and installed the pullstart.

My only concern now is just with everything holding up, just hope nothing breaks when I drive it...haha

So all you need is a steering servo that I am sending you, a tuned pipe that I am sending you, and a header? Thats sweet man, Ijust can't get over how huge that engine looks sitting in a 1/10 lol. Not only is it a BB, the 24.7 has a huge ass head and a pretty big block compared to a lot of other BB engines. That thing moved my buggy quite fast, I can't wait to see this thing in action!

Yep, all I need is the servo and exhaust system. I've found a header that will work, but i'll probalby use the one you're sending me and just have the exhaust go out the back for now, but the header later.

But yeah, i'm getting really excited to finally run the car. It'll be interesting to see if everything will hold up and nothing breaks.

looks sweet man i can't wait to see it in action .. good luck on it man an keep up the good work

Received the receiver and exhaust, quickly installed them. Partially charged the battery pack to setup the radio, but stupid me, charged the pack at too high of a rate and blew the battery pack. Car almost went up in flames but I threw water on it and it. Bought a new battery pack, it's now sitting on the charger.

Last night I took apart the engine/car, inspected them, and reassembled them with LOTS of after run oil Started the engine today. It would start, but would die after a few seconds. After about 20 minutes of yanking on the pullstart and fiddling with the needle and idle setting, I finally got it to run decently. Part of my problem was all the after run oil, and part of it was the fact I didn't know the factory needle settings.

Anyhoo, i'm just waiting for the battery pack to charge then I can drive the car a little. Too bad it's raining outside, so I have to run it on our deck. Hoping the weather will clear up before it gets dark.

In the current trim featured in the picture below, the car comes in at 1795grams dry without the body.

I can't wait to hear how this thing goes. But more then that I can't wait to see a video of it!

looks good. i think if you buy an 1/8th scale onroad header, you can mount that pipe in the traditional way. it would help lower your CG to try and regain some of your handling so you dont traction roll every time you try to turn. (not saying the pipe alone will cause that, but as much weight as low as you can get it will help)

Yeah, i'll be buying a header sometime. Dunno what brand, maybe looking into getting a header from a Schumacher Fusion.

Well after driving it on the deck for about a minute, I think I might have to get a failsafe...lol If it even slightly glitches, the car will take off crazy fast. I think it is a little overpowered...lol

I told you so!! lol
That car will be gone so fast, you wont know what happend.
Get the failsafe and lets see the video!!

The road in front of my house was semi-dry so I took the car for a short test drive. The mixture settings are off right now, but the car is bloody fast, especially once the tires started hooking up (sorta ;)). I swear it was doing a good 35-40mph, and that was only with about 100 feet of running room and with no traction.

edit: ran another tank, the car's hard to drive in the wet, definitely need to be easy on the throttle. So far everything is holding up, the 2-speed is shifting, just a little too soon. The spur gears have so far held up, belts haven't broken. I did loose a lug nut though.

Hey kwong, I should have sent you the manual. If ya still need the factory settings I can find them for you. The car looks good! Now we need a vid...
