Hey guys i am working on my maxx, i really have done a lot i need to get some pics for everyone. With that being said i got a new motor/clutch and 20t bell i want to know what spur would you go with for more power? I am not worried about some loss of top end speed? I see there is one section on my spur that has a small chip and i am sure it will last but for a few bucks i want to see if can get some more power off the line.. I want to stick to a traxxas plastic one and under 10.00 please. thanks

In the past i would use smaller bell and a larger spur. Would this work for a maxx? So lets say i go with a 18t bell and keep a stock spur i should gain that power? Is my thinking right?

Smaller Spur + Big Clutch Bell = Top End Power

Big spur + Small clutch bell = Low End Power

For the fastest off the line power make sure to go with the spur gear with the most teeth. Also you are going to want to change your bell down to a smaller one. 20 is a fairly tall bell. I reccomend and 18 tooth bell with a 68-70 spur. I find this has about all the gearing I need for where I run but I only run a small black. I end up with alot of off the line power and decent top end. The 70 would be better off the line and the 68 would let the top end open up a bit more.

Buy a few spurs and play aorund one you get it worked out then go get a bunch of that size spur in a kimbrough model and bash or race to your hearts content.

Have fun!!!

i am running stock 20/72. I was going to go with 18/70 but to be honest i have the 2.5 and doubt i will get that wheelie on command i want lol. I have a few options so i agree play around with a few and at only a few bucks i could spend less then 50.00 and find my right gear ratio for my park i will be running at. I find my area is more set up for off road rc action. We have to many small/narrow roads and a monster truck let lose in a giant park with dirt/grass should be real fun.
