I have just bought a 2 speed transmission for my Ultra Lx Pro.

I cannot get the tranny to shift, and the rear brake hits the clutch bell. I can hold the car off the ground and it will shift at @ 100mph :hamster: . I have had the set screw loose. Has anyone else tried this mod and got it to work????

I have had it apart and together about 5 times, and still no luck
:depress: :depress:

Any tips would help

Thanks

How do you know it is shifting at 100mph?

BTW running your car full throttle with no load is not good. Your mill will see an early grave.

if it does indeed shift, but not until a very high speed/rpm - then u need to LOOSEN the spring tension screws.

100mph was estimating what it would shift when I hold it off the ground. I could hold it at top speed on the ground and it would not shift (I dont know what the top speed is). But it would top out and not shift, even with the screw loose...

I just clocked my GS storm at 250MPH,, no really,, no poop!!!
oh wait,, sorry, I read that wrong,, it was 25MPH sorry!

RBL2001 - I understand that you were exhaggertating, trying to get the point across in the original post. Try loosening the screws in the 2speed as i mentioned before.

Please do not let some of the jerks in this forum dissuade you from posting here. Let us know how it turns out, and if we can be of any more help.

i knew he was joking too :D I'm curious how the accel is on the 2 speed vs the one

RBL2001, I actually took the time to read your post. Like the part where you say "I have had the set screw loose" and the other part: "and the rear brake hits the clutch bell".

The last piece of info is the kicker. I don't believe it will ever shift if the brake is hitting the clutch bell. You're basically slowing the buggy down with friction. I had this same problem with my buggy. The solution is a larger spur gear. I don't know how that works out with the 2-speed, but you basically need to increase the distance between the clutch bell and the brake assembly (a bigger spur gear as opposed to a smaller clutch bell gets the job done on a normal, non-2speed setup).

That sounds like a tough one. :\

Good luck,
RobH

Have you thought about just calling OFNA? I have a Lx and I was thinking bout getting the upgrade. Now I'm not so sure.

You may have also missed a important thing.. with no center diff it does not need front and rear brakes.. its a solid system so only need brakes on one end of the 2 speed.. try removing the brakes from the end thats hitting..
