1. Has anyone used K & N filters as an air filter? If not, what is the best filter for my savage .25?

2. Has anyone ever used a drill to start the savage? I have the rotostart but would a drill be easier?

as usual, thanks for all the guidance

1. Stay far away from the K&N the filter material is not dense enough to keep out harmful dust fragments. Try the motor saver filters or the stock x 4.6 double layer filters havent given me any problems.

2. I would think the rotostart would be much easier but people do sometimes use drills.

Agreed. I use the stock savage X air filter. As for starting the engine, a pullstart on a primed engine can't be beat.

What filter does yours have? My 25 came with the HPI version of a motor saver, great filter IMO.

The only way I see a drill as easier is if you use a corded one so you never have to recharge the battery. But then you need to have a plug in handy wherever you run.

doesn't the roto start have a owb in it so it can free spin after the motor starts? personally i agree with heartbreak. a pullstart is the best and easiest IMO

Nope, the rotostart doesn't have a one-way in it. It's basically just a motor attached to a gear train with a socket for the starter shaft on the end. It still relies on the one-way in/on the engine.

ok. i just remember reading something about it being bad for your engine to use a drill. maybe it was the rpm difference. i can't rememeber

That bad thing about a drill is if you flood the engine enough to hydro-lock it, the drill has so much torque you're gonna break something!

That's the chief concern right there. Unless you use a clutch on the drill, you're gonna break your engine sooner or later.

Just better to use the rotostart, or a pullstart.
