AZ State, my school! I was in a fraturnity too, but we never got caught doing that. I mean we never did that...

milk is to expensive to waste like that anyways.

Has anyone heard anything on the few colleges where the administration is actually petitioning to have the legal drinking age lowered to 18. They use the age old saying old enough to vote, old enough to join military, should be old enough to drink. A few professors have added that the government says at 18 someone isn't capable of making good judgment. He said if that's the case they shouldn't be aloud to join military for the same reason. He also argues that reducing the drinking age would dramatically reduce the binge drinking done at frat parties because most of it is done because that's where a under age person can drink. He says a drinking age of 18 would leave most of them to drink in public establishments where once they are noticeably intoxicated the establishment should cut them off, which doesn't happen at frat parties most of the time they are handed another beer with a pat on the back. I have to admit the argument is a good one. I personally feel if you are considered mature enough to volunteer for military service then you are mature enough to make other decisions also. What are others thoughts this Thread is not meant to condone the consumption just to see if anyone else has heard this I read it in a local news paper article and kinda thought it fit here.

That is a Valid Argument you make there Grudge.

What I don't understand is how you manage to get into a Car accident from milk landing on your windshield? Why would you slam on your breaks? Just another woman that can't drive...

There is enough dumbasses out there, without lowering the age, and giving these excuses to kids to legaly drink and drive.

I agree, your statement although enforces the entire argument in one sense. Notice how you referred to them as kids. How can we say that they are to immature to handle the responsibility of consuming alcohol, but in the same breath they are mature enough to volunteer to defend and possibly die for their country. Seems to me the minimum age to join the military should also be 21. By the way to avoid any confusion I am a Gulf War vet and proud of my service.

I agree with Alpine, but I DO think that if you think a person is old enough to give their life for the country, they should be able to have a beer in any bar they feel like it. So if lowering the drinking age is a bad idea, then quit sending these "immature" kids of to war to die for you while you sit your lazy ass on capitol hill!

I joined with louisiana state police when i was 19 years old. I had to take not one but two extensive groupings of psychiatric testing. One called the Matrix test. Its a test all police officers have to take. And another one because i was under 21, and had to prove my maturity, and that i was mentally fit to deal with all that went on with my profession. I believe that a mental evaluation for anyone, whether it be 21 or 60, to be able to purchase or consume alcohol.

My main argument of lowering the drinking age is because male or female, the human body's organs are not fully developed untill around the age of 21, and with the damaging substances that are in alcoholic beverages, and the immaturity to accept this by younger people, the age should stay at 21. I personally believe that tobacco products should be raised to 21 for the same reason.

I agree my argument is by law at 18 someone can be join the military and also considered a Adult by the judicial system. They are considered to have the ability to act in there best interest then. Seems like a double standard. Also for the record I am not big drinker I don't drink beer, I bought a gallon of Jack Daniels 6 months ago and just finished it off. I am simply arguing the basis of at what point is someone truly considered a Adult in the governments eye. If someone isn't capable of making the right decision concerning alcohol then should they be considered a adult in terms of joining the military or even by the Judicial system.
