So the past few times I have taken the Stampede out I have certainly had fun with it. But I want more fun. Hows the stampede with a 2.5R in it? Would it be worth the 130$ or so? Do I just need the 2.5R and the upgrade kit or do I need more stuff with it?

$130 for a 2.5R?? You can get one off ebay for $99 and free shipping to the U.S. what engine is on it now?

Yeah 99 for the engine and then you have to buy the conversion kit. It just has the stock trx.15. Would I have to change the transmission or spur gear or anything for the 2.5? What about brakes?

You will need a header and possibly a different pipe though. The 2.5 is rear exhaust vs side exhaust on the .15.

The pipe you have may work.

The nitro 4-tec pipe? Apparently the traxxas 5490 ROAR resonator works well. But the question is where do I find a header to wrap around instead of go out the rear.

I really enjoy the side exhaust because I don't get unburned fuel and exhaust on my hand and the ez-start wand when I start it up. And I don't really want a plastic exhaust. The stock one on my Stampede started leaking pretty quickly.

The conversion kit (part # 4400) has everything you need to convert from the .15 to the 2.5R. The header is included and the stock plastic pipe. Once you have the header you can install any side pipe of your preference.

For some reason I was thinking that the 4400 came with a header for a rear exhaust. Just a little confusion. I'll go with the 5490 ROAR resonator exhaust.
Right before I read your post snook I found the traxxas 5287 header and then noticed it was included with the 4400.

Sounds like a plan, I'm excited to see how well it will perform. Will I need a wheelie bar? For now I'm going to fix the clutch and run the hell out of the .15

Thanks everyone for your help.
