First i'll lead off by disclosing i'm a complete newbie, learning as i go. I have owned the T-Maxx for about 2 weeks and it's my first RC.

I had a problem with the Traxxas Needle Assembly High-Speed TRX 2.5 (#5250) and Carburetor housing (#5234) so I replaced both. I did so meticulously and used support article of traxxas website as my guide.

(I had managed to overtighten the needle and stripped the housing carburetor side)

Currently I can start T-Maxx, it will idle w/ slight foward acceleration. When I try to accelerate the engine revs up by it's not enganging. I have tried toggling between foward and reverse.

Visually looking at RC car it appears everything is moving / engaging properly.

(My T-maxx was idleing while I was reading through user manual for about 2 mins and suddenly died if thats relevant. I have carb set to stock settings (4 turns from closed, etc..)

I'm just not sure what to check first and google is kinda letting me down! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

spur gear

Have you checked the spur gear? It may need to be replaced, or maybe it will just need to be adjusted. You can loosen the engine mounts and stick a piece of paper between the spur gear and the clutch assy. This should give you proper spacing.

sounds more like the slipper clutch to me, but i as well am curious to hear what he problem was

Well.. I ended up taking it down the street to a hobbie shop. The guy that works in the RC car area took it outside fired it up and TUNED it. (Yes it's almost embarrassing to admit...) Maybe he had the touch.. because i DID try factory settings, etc.. I also tightened some screws when i was inspecting, not sure if this had any bearing or impact. Definately a better resolution than i was anticipating.

Good luck, I know once I got my tmaxx tuned properly it made a huge difference, and bacame a LOT more fun.

you just need to replace the central gear, my friends did the same thing, the engine is fine but it moves at low throttle but when the engine is reved it doesn't move, youve got a stripped gear in ur tranny
