hey guys so i recieved my TRX 2.5r today and was going to install it into my nitro sport... it was the final part of my little project i have installed all the aluminum parts on it and waited paitiently for the engine as it was coming from the states and I'm all the way in australia...

so anyway i installed the fly, clutch and replaced the pull start with a new EZ start.. did the final check and went to start it, but would only give me not even a full kick. i took the glow plug out and tried to crank it and it would turn over easily. tried it one more time and same thing....

i ended up taking the engine off again and realised i couldnt spin the fly wheel with my fingers so i pulled it off thinking i did something wrong but it was ok..

I believe the piston sleave is just a little too tight as there are little scratches in the sleave.. but then again it turns over without the glow plug. Hrmmm..

Factory defect or what!

it is normal for the piston and sleeve to have a very tight fit when they are brand new. What you need to do is put a couple drops of afterrun oil in the engine before you start it. That may help it not stick.

A new engine is sometimes too tight for the EZ-Start. Try heating it with a hair dryer and just barely loosen the plug to start it.Tighten the plug as soon as it's running.

Hmm... I ended up heating the engine up with my heat gun and it seemed to want to turn over but didn't start.... I also tried it with the loosened glow plug but it also would start...

I thought i was wrong with the defective motor but am i doing something wrong or any other methods... :/

Ok so i got it started off the truck in a bench vice with a battery drill hooked up onto the one way bearing and with the heat gun on it... Once it did start it kept stalling... Stall after stall i ended up getting three tanks through the motor just by restarting it.. Funny thing is it wouldnt idle at one speed it kept jumping even with my finger on the valve. Once i tried to start it with the pull start and it was cold same thing.

Honestly stumped could it possibly be faulty or am i not patient enough. Arrr

Wrong engine drop-in. Lol just playing but theres so much better out there than a 2.5 trx. But its not my rig and I am not judging, just stating, but that is quite a wierd situation.

That's cool man. I guess everyone has there own opinion, so what engine would you recommend with the same power output?
