2.5 tranny upgrade info

my 2.5 has a blown tranny now but I'm a tad confused by all the diff gears out their(Primary Gear Kit,topshaft). I'm upping to steel as i did the 3.3, id like to keep reverse, and its a 2speed obv, whats needed to complete a total tranny upgrade to steel gears?

Look on Robinson racing and see what they have. They will give you part numbers and then compare them to your manual. That's one of the ways you can compare apples to apples and see what you need.

robinson sells the whole kit for 88.00 no reverse you can't upgrade that transmission and keep reverse

Reverse is a PITA anyways, IMO. Once you get rid of it (if you do), you wont look back.

gahh alright! thx for the replys. so once upped to steel is it possible to just use stock reverse or just no reverse at all once upped. I just run the tmaxx around my house n the once in while sand pits so reverse is handy not like I race

just keep it stock,its a strong transmission.up grade the slipper clutch to the 3.3 and your ready to go.But i would go with the f.o.c.kit.that reverse seems to rob power

All input and primary gears can be upgraded to RRP steel gears (excluding the reverse primary gear which is aluminum) and you can still use the stock plastic forward and reverse output gears.

well no answer from RRP as I'm a bit confused, but reading off their site the forward only kit needs just the top shaft #8586 and 8529, but what about second gear? maybe I'm just not getting it, does fowarded only get rid of the gear for second?

any time you can drop a gear off a motor you will get more power. it will take less power to turn your motor with the reduced weight of an extra gear...

No the f.o.c. doesn't get rid of second gear it eliminates the reverse gear.
