i know its been done a 1000 times, but what do i need for the throttle linkage?? do i need to use the 2.5 carb?? i like to use the 3.3 carb but dint see how the linkage is going to work.any pics or part numbers would be great. I'm bout to pull my hair out here.got a rebuild chassie, new motor and no way of making it work. thanks, any imput would be great!!

the 2.5 and 3.3 are the same carb. the only difference is the angle of the slide arm. there is a small set screw on the arm if you loosen the screw you can move the connection to the angle u need.

on the 2.5 the arm goes up and down to open and shut and on the 3.3 it goes side to side to open and shut. i dont see how to make the linkage work.anyone with some close up shots would be great

ok that doesn't sound like a 2.5 . someone correct me if I'm wrong here but that sounds like the pro.15 original trx motor that you have the 2.5 and 3.3 use the axact same carb only set at a different angle if you have the .15 motor you will have to change a few things but i dont know what.

Not sure if its a pro.15 but deffinatly NOT a 2.5..
They are the same carb..
dragonlike is correct all you shld hace to do is adjust the carb and slide arn to where you need it..
My GF has only just finished swapping a stock TMaxx classic to a 3.3..
Same linkages.. she didnt have to change..
i will get her to post a pic today :)
if it is a pro.15 or another motor you might need to buy the stock linkages..
Does it say 2.5 on the engine case...???

Your spot on. That's a pro .15 or another rotary carb engine. Traxxas makes a linkage kit just for this swap.

i got to looking it is a 1.5.so they make a linkage kit to switch a 1.5 to a 3.3??

Hey, I recently upgraded to the 3.3 from the 2.5. I keep breaking the joints that come out of the differential and lead to the wheels. Not sure what they are called but has this happened to anybody else? And any solutions?

Loosen your slipper and/or upgrade the driveshafts(that's what part your breaking). Starting a new thread will yield you more responses too.

Thanks Metalhead, I looked up the part and it is the U-Joints attached to the drive shafts that I keep breaking. I am not certain what the "Slipper" is. Can you give me a bit of feedback.

Thanks Again

Well, it sounds like you need to download the manual first thing. www.traxxas.com has them. The slipper clutch is what your spur gear is attached to. The nut with the spring behind it, on the big black gear that comes off of the tranny. When it's adjusted properly, it slips when it's under enough pressure, absorbing shock and keeping it out of your drivetrain.

Thanks again.... I have been working on RC's for about 2 weeks now and have learned just enough to be dangerous! LOL It is very addicting. The 3.3 makes the truck stand on end but that also may be from the slipper clutch being to tight. Take care!

Give yourself 6 months to a year; you'll be amazed at the knowledge you acquire.:)

Last night I adjusted the slipper clutch and replaced the axel driveshaft that I broke. It ran great and I didnt break anything this time. The 3.3 seems like a lot of motor for the tmaxx or maybe even to much. I am going to look into some wheelie bars for it!

You must have 'er tuned in pretty good.:) The 3.3 is a good size motor for the Maxx. Remember, you can adjust the gearing to suit your driving style. If it wheelies too much for your liking, gear it up a little. 1-2 teeth on the clutch bell would calm it down a bit.
