Just looked online at a Picco .26 engine. According to the website, the .26 is a drop in replacement for the 2.5 TMaxx and the .26 puts out 2.5 HP. Has anyone used this motor or does anyone have any comments or ideas about this swap?

Thanks.

The .26 is a good motor, according to quite a lot of reviews on various websites and forums. The main issue you're going to have is the destruction of driveline components due to the increased torque it produces. Not a big deal really - just gives you an excuse to upgrade as things break...just be ready for it ;)

if you just want to make the 2.5 alittle stronger the davis deisel conecting rod i have been told holds up for a good while compared to the stock ones.. I am ordering a few next week 1 for each maxx..... just an idea... but if you are looking for more power then I have heard a few good things about losi 3.4 but i also heard you might have to customize a couple small things.... Hey if you want real power clockwork motors... I have a few of them on my wish list.. If you want power their customized motors are screamers.... I have talked to a few people that have them and wont ever let them go..

I dont blame them.. good luck and let us know what you end up getting.. I like knowing all the different combos everybody makes.....

I like the red dot so much i bought 2. just kidding the first one got lost in the mail so I ordered a second, then the first one arrived 5 weeks later!

I really like the red dot! IMO it has more power than one should ever need. You will rip out your center driveshaft, stock diffs, and your 2.5 outer shafts. possibly your 14mm hex wheels, and tranny gears. so be ready! most of these can be upgraded to 3.3 spec/ or brushless diffs relatively cheap.

some pains that the engine will give you are... its a PITA to break in. the OFNA brand pull start is junk, buy a traxxas brand pull start. and forget about ever using the cheesy start, it just wont do the job.

After youve got it dialed in it is great... its loud, and its got a ton of power!

davis deisel conecting rod ??

How much $$ is it fore a davis deisel conecting rod and were can I get one ?? dose it improve the 2.5 allot ?? low end or top end ?:)

Search for the davis diesel rod on google.com. You'll find it - I'm sure. As far as it being considered an upgrade for the 2.5, I don't think it is. Its main purpose is to provide sufficient strength to handle the power of the 3.3. The rod in the 2.5 and the 3.3 is the same, and since it was designed for the 2.5, it does pretty well in that mill. You'll most likely lose a hair of power putting it in the 2.5, since it isn't knife-edged, and is of comparable weight. Basically that means its going to create turbulence in the combustion chamber.

If you're looking to get more power out of the motor, you're most likely not going to get it from putting this part in.

Ok than how about a tune pipe or resonator pipe ?? What would be the best to wake the 2.5 up a bit ??

The resonator is a great pipe, got one on my maxx, much better performance over stock IMO and much better sound from it also. The Extreme mods pipe looks really good too.

The sponsor link is also on the forum home page. The Extreme pipes are more money than the resonators ($115-$130), but watch the vids, they are wicked sounding pipes!!!! If I had the money, I would buy one for sure. For the money spent, Resonators are worth it though (around $40).

Ebay a T maxx Resonator pipe and get either a new style stock air filter or a Motorsaver air filter.

Doing both at the same time will help each end breath a little better.

Resonator Pipe @ $28 shipped BIN from "ebay"

MotorSaver Filter for $18, flows way better than the 2.5 stock button type filter, even a stock New 3.3 style(@$8) flows better than the button filter.

I'm not a pro at this but I put a picco in my t.maxx 3.3 with all the revo spec parts and no matter what broke the picco always tore it up again it is a beast I down graded because got tired of fixing stuff if you can afford to replace parts then go for it if not I wouldn't go any bigger than an o.s .21

thats when you upgrade to all metal driveline and splurge on all metal gears in the tranny, and metal spur.... as long as you dont want reverse...

I've got picco .26's in two of my 4907 t-maxx's, I love these engines! be sure to have steel cvd's though!
