hey guys, i do not know too much about the 2.5 engine and my friend has one. he is just done breaking it in and it was running pretty hot. and then today he was running it and it was getting really hot, i had richened the high speed needle, but that didnt do anything, i didnt do anything with the lsn. like i said, i am not too good with the 2.5, but i tried. just wanted some pointers.

mine does that too. so i ditched the 2.5 and got the 24.7 xtm engine. that fixed the problem:), but i woud tell your friend to get a better cooling head if richining the mix dosent do it

Check for air leaks, look over the lines and see if it has fuel leakage anywhere on the motor.

From what I've read and been told the 2.5 is very weird. You either get a good one or a bad one. I had a good one, at 1 gal. it had opened up and had mad power. Then I flipped and killed it.

Assuming everything is tuned properly, I would change the head to something that is not cast aluminum as it does not cool as well as 6061 or 7075 machined aluminum. I had my 2.5 (which I loved) tuned real well and it still ran 270-280. It did not flame out held and idel and had oodles of power, its just that the 2.5 seems to like to run a little hot. When I changed my head on my 2.5 to the Hardcore racing head WOW what a difference it made. I didnt need to adjust the tune much because I didn't want to run it any leaner just becuase I had a bigger head. It ran in the 230-240 range which I really liked. You might want to try this.

yes, my friend had just got a new head for it and it does really good now. it still gets hot but not as hot as it got.
