hey rolex i did what you said and i got the temp about 194 and it ran great thanks alot, one other thing i was running in a field with a buddy and my high temp of the day was about 306 is that way to high or is it just from making to many high speed runs in a row?

yep I was having the same heating problem... I switched to traxxas top fuel and it cooled down alot. Noe its running good again..

Well, johnbrumbaugh, if you were running in a field, it works a lot harder than running on a smoother surface, and that's probably what brought your temps up that high.
I also agree on using Traxxas fuel. That's something I learned a few months ago. I tune a lot of engines at the local track, and then started to notice that several of the 2.5s I had tuned were outrunning mine. We started talking about it when someone suggested I try a couple of tanks of their Traxxas fuel instead of the Blue Thunder I had always used.
A little tweak for the new fuel, and it was like a different engine. Ran better and also cooler.

I really appreciate all the help again you are te master, If there is any question i can answer for you let me know you have been a great help. I am using traxxas 20% fuel because thats what traxxas recommeds, besides the fact that they make both i thought it was the best choice. I will soon be adding a roto start from hot bodies so i'm looking forward to that. I'll keep u posted if i get into trouble again.

One more point I should add. If you plan on spending a lot of time running on rough surface, like a lawn or in a field, you should adjust your shift point so it will stay in low gear longer. If it's shifting into 2nd quickly, it has to work hard all the time.
