well the worst happened last night. blew up my 2.5. broke the skirt off the piston and gouged up the sleeve. con rod is still in good shape.

my question is should i pay 150 bucks for a new 3.3 or rebuild the 2.5 with a sleeve and piston? or buy a picco or o.s. motor?
 
I love my 3.3 the diference between the two are amazing...

just get this.. the rear fits the 2.5 ez start and the front will fit your stock flywheel and clutch bell. so just spend like 20 bucks less that that 150 and have a bran new 3.3.... its gonna be a great upgrade compared to the 2.5..

If your looking for O.S. motors that are about equal to the 3.3 are stil lpretty expensive. I say just go with the 3.3.
 
I would say rebuild the 2.5 or if you get the 3.3 I would say get the davis deisel con-rod the stock conrod is the same thing as the 2.5's... just my 0.02
 
does traxxas still have the trade in cause they will take it even if it is broke.at least they did for me take it to a hobbytown usa and trade it in there so you don't have to waite for shipping and i think it is still less then the ebay one, and you are sure to get a new one ,not one in a box that makes you think it's new . I just don't trust ebay .sure it's pay pal and the stuff is supposed to be backed but why chance the hassel .
 
as long as you watch who you deel with you are fine I have gotten some really good deals on there but dont deal with anyone that has less than perfect ratings and alot of them... I know it sux for the new people but atleast you know you are getting what you are supposed to!!!! and yeah its called the power up program.. as long as your lhs supports this they will exchange right there for you it is your broke engine and like 118 or 120 for a new 3.3 and like 80 bucks for a new 2.5r cause they dont do thereg 2.5 no more.

I've been buying on ebay for years... i bought my savage x 4.6 off there.. parts for my jato... parts for mine and my mothers cars.

Your not really chancing anything.. the sellers want a good rating soo badly they will do everything they can to keep their customers satisfied.. only problem I've ever had was when RD logics sent me a faulty glow plug igniter and i said i was having issues with it. they literally sent me another one with a box prepaid so all i had to do was ship it back.

Key things to look at in ebay is this..

Feedback % rating. needs to be in the high 90's
Also how many things they have sold.. the more they have sold and with positive % feed back they are good sellers.
Read some of the feed backs including the negative ones

Ebay is a great place, my local hobby shop wanted 524 for the savage. ebay got it for 450 bran new no differences than the hobby shop. just cheaper.

you will end up saving alot of money in the end and saving gas from driving. its just an all around great way to buy.
 
maybe just me but i have a good # of people that got screwed on ebay. that was also a long time ago maybe things are different now just hard for me to trust someone i don't know , i mean you do send payment first right . whats to stop them from getting the payment and not sending the merchindise? i personaly have never bought anything off line or sold . but am starting to think it is about time to try .i just don't understand it how is the buyer protected. on ebay , here or anyother site?

ebay is a legit site, if a company were to do that ebay lets you file a case and get a refund.. I've personally actually never heard of any company on ebay actually taking a payment and not sending the product. No matter what happens you can't really get ripped off on ebay and not get a product or loose money. but i mean if you look at companies on ebay where they have sold tons of items in the thousands they wouldnt do that either. I dont think you have to worry about not receiving the item. I would say if you already have a paypal account just try it out and order something thats not very expensive just so you can experience it.

There are alot of deals on ebay that will save you money. I mean it is nice to be able to buy your product at the store and be able to have it same day. but usually your paying retail and ebay usually just saves you money over all. Also when you buy something, under your purchase history the seller includes info like tracking number, when it was shipped, and when it was paid for.

Sorry for the long read just trying to help others save money.

*edit * also just for an example I've bought over 150 items on ebay and the only issue I've ever had was when i ordered some tires and they company didnt ship the item till about a week later but that was due to that huge storm about a month ago or something.

I have alspo bought many things from ebay,had 1 item not show and I got a full refund
 
I built my entire last t maxx from buying parts from ebay. Only had. One issue with a spool and it was backordered so they just upgraded me and apologized. I was happy. Never bought a motor off there though. Got my 3.3 for 121.00 after I traded the 2.5 in.
