When I am converting the fm radio to the 2.4 ghz radio. Is the only thing I have to change out the transmitter and receiver?

For base model 2.4ghz systems that is all you have to do.

Some higher end systems have both a digital servo and analog servo mode. If you have analog servos and the the transmitter is set for digital, you will fry your servos.

Also, some 2.4 systems have built-in fail safe that you will need to set.

should also consider a radio with 3rd channel that allows you to run a picoswitch for killing engine's ignition

real handy most times; lifesaver if you ever suffer a runaway

not a huge fan of your typical "yumcha" brands i'm afraid :(

they'll probably work (YMMV) but usually with the 'budget' new-brand radios
they'll always feel like cheapy RTR radiogear in your hand... those things typically
pop out of the china factory door for <$10 and rest is profit to the middlemen

electronics are so cheap these days its worthwhile sticking with established brands

i think there's a Sanwa/Airtronics 2.4 for RRP $80 and the Spektrum DX3E for $99?

no idea, never tried

if it were me i'd try return it unused for credit and put that $ towards buying the kill switch from TGN :)

TGN is good for some stuff like Baja hopups and accessories... but imho there
are better places to buy electronics and decent batteries ;)

Yes it will work and the fact it's 2.4 makes it an upgrade over the stock unit.

I would send an email to KillerRC asking about the compatibility with the Kill Switch.
