Anyone using this eng? Just got one, have run 2 tanks so far. Not broke in yet but should be by the weeks end. Its in my 4908, and geared the same as my brothers clasic 3.3 maxx. Can't wait till he comes out this weekend to run them head to head. The .19 will go in my Jato as soon as I get the parts to fix my sirio .27 I'll let you know how it compares to the 3.3 for those of you interested. For the price its worth a try!

Will be interested in seeing how you like it. Would be nice to know there's a $110 engine out there that's worth getting for a revo. I'd proffer to stay away from TRX engines... the 2.5R in my jato is just a nuisance in general to tune. Any dynamite engine I've had ran well, had decent power, good fuel economy, but relatively short pinch life (5-6 gallons).

I know, thought it was just my tuning skills that sucked, till I got my sirio. Once tuned it stayed tuned, just minor adjustments for diff day temp's if you wanted it to run at its best. The 2.5 in my Jato and both 3.3's in mine and my brothers Maxx are the same, run great one day and just chace the tune the next day. Tried everything, sealing the eng, diff fuel brand, diff brand plugs, ect... If I get 4-5 gal of fuel out of this Dynamite eng, with consistent runs it will have been well worth the $120 Canadian I paid. I'll keep you posted!

keep us posted i've been thinking about it also. i can't decide what to buy also.

Yes! I'm in the market for a motor for a tmaxx project. This is a good solution to the 3.3 that has tested my patience. I'm loving the price too!! Next week i plan to fork over the change for a motor. Haven't decided which though.

I'm all ears when you get this thing broken in and against that 3.3.

So I got my .19 running and broke in. I'll give you the run down of the install. First the stock manifold fits the way the instructions say, but the spring included is too long for a tight fit. I shortened each end of the spring and bent new hooks at the ends, and used RTV sil to seal it up. Next problem was the air filter. Get the Dynamite one or a small block motor saver like I did. The eng I got did not have the updated back plate so I had to shim my pull start to make it work. A phone call to Dynamite and the have sent me the up dated back plate no questions asked other than my mailling address. Now thats customer service!!! Had a problem at tank 4 with the bushing for the starter shaft in the back plate moving out, so the shaft could move off the pin of the crank, not turning the eng over to start it. Hope new back plate cures this.
Now after 8-9 tanks run on it, it is running good and getting stronger all the time. Could not run it against my brothers 3.3 because it was giving us trouble. He is about ready to toss it if it doesn't smart'en up. I'm happy with the .19 so far, will be able to say more about it as I run it a little more. Hope this helps you guy's that are interested in this inexpensive little eng, I'll do my best to answer any questions you might have. Thanks for reading and your interest.

I'm glad you posted the update. Info from first-hand users is invaluable to others looking at the same purchase.

+100 I've actually been holding off on buying it. Waiting to here a real experience. I still skeptical on it.. I would rather not go through your problems, rather avoid them. I would love to get this motor but avoid your problems. Its not that I don't mind tinkering with stuff, its frickn NITRO r/c!! . It seems easier to get a 3.3 and drop in. Then mess with it down the road when it starts to take a crap.

Also heard about short pinch life. What is pinch life really?

I guess its worth it to spend the extra $80 for a motor that will last twice as long and get Hp as bonus.

Now that I have done it, all you have to do is get a shorter spring and an air filter that will fit that eng. If the eng you get does not have the updated back plate, just call Dynamite and get the new one before you install it in your truck. I would not hesitate to buy this eng again, would just get everything the first trip to the lhs.

You know i dont know why everyone is so down on the trx engines. My 4908 is running strong with the 3.3 the only upgrade i made to it was a davis deisels heavy duty connecting rod. The only reason i did that is because the stock one split and punched a hole in the piston. Since then with a new piston and sleeve and the con rod my 3.3 has been running like a champ! A breeze to tune a rock steady idle and wheelies every time i stab the throttle.

You lucky dog. Mine was the exact opposite. it never kept a tune and never had a steady idle and no wheelies either. i guess some trx engines are better than others.

Well just ordered my Dynamite.19t and venom smart temp failsafe as insurance. We'll see how this engine works with me. Umm what the word on fuel type... nitro%,brand?

For me, traxxas took too long to get an engine strong enough for a MT. That in itself was annoying for 5 years... then they come out with the engine they should have used all a long, the 3.3, but it still runs a composite carb that is flakey and tends to bind/leak. Good power when you can get it to run right.

FYI, the dynamite is $95 when added to your cart:

I may just have to come up with $100 to give it a try. My 18TM has either lost it's punch or I remember it being stronger when I ran it 2 years ago in my revo... it's ok, but it's not great.

FYI, most dynamite engines I've owned or been around have made it pretty easily to 5 gallons if not more before needing a pinch. Then you can get them pinched for $25 and get another 4+ out of them. They all also tuned well, ran well and didn't drink fuel like a v8. Even their BB's are fuel misers.

Hearing/reading some issues about fitment with the PS and EZ though. Pretty sure horizon has worked out the issue as I read somewhere that there's a mark on the box with the different backplate and a stamp on the engine.

I bought mine off ebay.. for some reason idk. But it came with updated backplate, marked by the dot. Chances are high youll get update version.
Waiting on my ps and busy with getting boats ready for summer taking up my free time.

Just giving an update on my .19 in my extended maxx. Have almost half a gal run on it and it is great. Holds a tune well, starts first pull when fuel line primed, way more consistent than my 3.3 or 2.5 in my Jato. Should be getting my updated back plate this week in the mail, usually takes two weeks to get parts from the U.S. Seams to like to run around 230-240 deg. Good smoke trail and power, what more could you ask for?? I hope it works as well for all of you trying it.
