i read that an 18T CB will make the engine run hotter vs the stock 15T on the savage 25..can't remember why it is but thats what i read. Is that true?

I'm gonna change out my gearing....gonna play around a little doing some different combos...

I'm thinking of 2 combos..

1) good accel without losing too much top end.

15/49

2) all top end

16/49

anyone tried that?

You really won't see much of a change running 16/49 verses 15/49. If your running your Savage on road try your 18/49 combo.

The 18T could make your engine run a little hotter, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal. With that gearing the engine will have to work a little harder to get going than with the 15T.

Right now I'm running 18/49 on my Savage for on road and temps stayed about the same as 16/49.

cool....does the 18/49 work well enough for off road to??

If your engine is the stock one it might be a little over geared. If you have a powerful engine you might need 18/49 just to keep the wheels on the ground.

Oops sorry forgot to mention I was running this on my WASP 28. When I used the S-25 with 18/49 off-road it was on mostly hard packed dirt and short cut grass. You will lose quite a bit of low end with that gearing on the S-25. If you are worried about temps then run it a little on the rich side.
