i have a question that I'm still not super sure about. I had a fantom .15 in my supernitro that i replaced with a .21bb (savage engine)... now i know that the savage engine has more power, but it has less rpm. The pipe i was using before on the fantom was kind of restrictive, and a .21 pipe wont fit on the supernitro because they are too long for it. but here is my question ..

how much faster really is a .21 than a 15 that is tuned and worked and ready to go ? the reason I'm asking is because the .21 has such a high center of gravity that it makes my car handle kinda crappy when there is lots of grip (flips it right over in turns) and that when shifting, the .21 has a tendency to snap teeth off the little plastic gears.

what would you preffer in your supernitro ... fantom .15 with dynamite tuned pipe, or hyper 8 port with tuned pipe.

my birthday is comming up soon so I'm trying to decide if its worth it to cram huge power into my car, or just put money into other htings on it like some graphite and some new suspension.

Its all about the RPM and how fast you can get it up to speed.
Sure a .21 has a bunch more torque but what do you want with torque.

Hell lets put a Big Block Hemi in a VW. Shur you can do it if you want but the additional weight and less RPM will make it counter productive.

I have a Super Nitro Rally and got a Force .26 for really cheap new. I also have the WolfPack adjustable motor mounts. I haven't worked on that yet.. I am still pretty new to the hobby just that I saw a schumacher at my LHS and it had a big block motor on their 1/10.. but since I have a SNR i figure it would work out easier since it is 20% bigger...

yeah, it fits in there fine, but the CG is so high that i just dont like the way it handles ... I'm going back to a .15 either in a 1/10 or in my super. but the 21 is done

do you have a Super Nitro Rally or Super Nitro???

supernitro ... the CG wouldnt be a problem if it had no grip and slid around... but my car grips like crazy. so it just flips over .

does the Super Nitro come with slicks??? I know when I got slicks for my super nitro rally it would flip like crazy even with the 15FE motor.. just that my hobby shop doesn't sell street radials.. but the .26 motor in it is mainly for the off road.. did you get the wolfpack conversion or did you make one? I might get MT wheels and tires.. but I'll let you know how mine turns out

they dont really make street radials for the super, the only ones to get are the prolines. which are good for the big engine because they slip . but they dont turn that well. i decided to go with a fantom or sirio .18.

i have a .21 racer 2. i have lots of torque but i only burn the tires for like half a second as it rips off the line up to about 70mph. (tallest gearing, 23/37 ) i dont flip over ever. i also dont strip gears and yes, I'm using th 2 speed.

I have a .12 O.S. TR Turbo in a Kyosho V-oneR and with the stock gear ratio it does 70MPH. You could go way faster with a .12 with lots of HP and do that speed and handle 2 times better.

thing is. ill get to 70mph BEFORE you. plus the .21 size-cool-factor.

and i have an old rs4 racer 2 (100 bucks from www.meganitro.com) so ANYHING will handle better than it.

While you may get to 70mph before him, you will have to brake earlier and take turns slower.

If you are drag racing, go for it.

Ill take a high RPM, high HP .12 over a .21 for my on-road any day. Unless we start getting into 8th scale, well, then I may just need a wicked .18 :bling:

Another thing to consider is that since you have soo much more torque available you should go with a much higher gearing. This would be the best way to take advantage of all that power. Did you see the gear ratios Razor put up....that high as hell. If you still have the stock gearing, what your doing is like trying to race you 1:1 in second gear. All that power of the engine with no proper way to put it to the wheels. Try getting some taller gearing, it will def help.

But, like everyone else has said. If all your doing is drag racing this is fine. But if you're trying to race on a track forget about the 21. Its just too heavy and ruins your CG for turning and handling. Even with all that power properly geared, a smokin .12 or .15 will eat you alive.

Unless you have a 1/8 buggy, my 1/8 buggy beat the touring cars around the track last meet <grin> and its powered by a the cheap .21 hyper 8 engine.. :woohooo:

yea i wish i could find some slightly taller gears. because my .21 racer 2 reaches top speed (over revving) in roughly 2 seconds after take off. i need something like.. go up a tooth on th CB and down the normal 3 teeth on the spur.

24/34
maybe even..
25/31
26/28?

my god that would fly. and we both know it could pull it.:hbd: :hbd: :hbd: :hbd:
