Hi, I think my pinion gear is damaged, can someone verify it by the looks of it please?

The rc car is a bsd rampage 1/10

The pinion and the spur gear are stock... what could be the reason for this other then an improper mesh? The spur gear is undamaged btw..

(until I'll buy a new pinion I will try to straight up the teeth with a dremel)

I'm not familiar with that particular car but in most cases, the pinion is the gear that is adjustable. From what I see, I'd say the mesh was too loose. There should be a little play in the gears but not much. Here is a good way to set your mesh correctly.

Also, while the motor is off, make sure there isn't any play in the shaft bearings of the motor and the shaft for the spur. Play would make setting correct gear mesh impossible.
