so I've had my 130x for a few weeks still getn used to the dx6I
. can i fly with factory settings or do i need to program my dx?

I would see if there is a listing of settings on some of the RC heli forms such as helifreak.com.

The settings for your 6i are on page 3 I believe it is in the 130x manual. If you're new to CP helis, I'd tone that down even more with lower dual rate settings. The 130x is a hot little bird, and a PITA to get setup right. But once it is, it's a fantastic flying heli that flies much bigger than it is.

There is a switch on the DX6i that allows greater or lesser sensitivity to the control inputs.

Yes, you are both right. But I was actually referring the dual rate numbers they recommend as posted below. I would lower them on down some if you are new to CP helis, for instance, rather than 85% on elevator and aileron, try 70%, with 30% expo. And for idle up, try the 85%. I don't even run 100% in idle up, for sport flying and not hard 3D, I just don't need that kind of response.

Also, I was wrong, the DX6i settings are on page 6.

D/R Expo
AILE 0 100% 40%
ELEV 0 100% 40%
RUDD 0 100% INH

AILE 1 85% 40%
ELEV 1 85% 40%
RUDD 1 80% INH

i set dx. to
ail 0 100 + 40
ele0 100 +40
rud0 100 inh

ail 1 70 +30
ele1 70 +30
rud1 65 + inh

when i turn on fmode it idles up on its own. should that happen?
honestly i dont understand the settings ex. ail 1 70% +30%??
can anyone explain.

Honestly, I'm not trying to be rude, but you need to go read up and understand all your radio settings, this is critical for all CP helis, and it will serve you well if you continue with helis. Go over to helifreak, and start reading the finless bob stuff, and watching the videos. Seriously, it helped me more than you'll ever know. :)

The 70 is a percentage of overall travel, and the 30 is expo.

Also, I posted in the other thread, that I would NOT use the recommended settings in the manual for a new pilot. Heck, even I don't use them and I've flown for a few years.

couldnt agree more. cp is far from fp. think i will put
130 back in box fly 120 and mcx mcx2 a while and learn
more about cp and dx6i. thanks!! i just registered with hf.

thanks a lot.. d/r expo not so hard after all. still need
to learn about throttle n pitch curves. thanks again!!!

Anytime man, glad to help. Did you find the 130x thread over at HF yet?

I like a flat throttle curve in normal mode, except I limit my max throttle to around 80% as I never fly in normal mode anyway. I also tame the jumpiness of the bird by setting my pitch range from say 35-45-50-75-100, again in normal mode which I only use to take off and land, and test indoors.

In IU (idle up) mode, I have a flat 100% throttle curve, and a linear 0-25-50-75-100 pitch curve, and the same pitch curve in TH (throttle hold mode).

not yet. i have been checking out finless bobs site though.
hf very helpful as well.
