I have a very old maxx. I broke the dogbones in the rear. the ones I order are bigger. they are part # 4951x. The part I need is the 4951. Should I make them fit or can I somehow find this part which is not made now. How bout a up grade part? TMX22122TW is a upgrade, but not in stock were I have looked. So, Also if i can't get the part can I put the 4951x in the truck? Help needed. Thanks.

4951X are just plastic slider shafts. Just cut them down to fit if too long and add your stub axle and yoke to the universals.

The nipples on the yoke are to big to fit into my old univrsals. Will the truck run okay with bigger slider shafts in the back than in the front?

Heat the yoke/shaft in a cup of boiling water to soften them up for easier assembly.
The diameter of the shaft dosnt have any effect other than being a stronger shaft.

I got them on already, I used a small flat heat just barely bigger than the hole. Made it alittle bigger. Now it fits. I was just worried about bigger turning ratio for the back axle vs the front. Was thinking it might make the trasmission act funny. The front of the truck has the 4951x and the back has the older smaller ones.

Id like to see this first gen MAXX, because thats the same model I wanted since I started the hobby.

I have one, or whats left of one anyway, lol...:hehe:

Here’s one that almost stock except for replacement grey bulks in the front, rear skid, foc and the newer black shock tower with the X brace in the rear.
I also have a completely stock 4910 Pro.15 Narrow Maxx in storage.

I slap on the first gen suspension from time to time just because I like the way it looks. Then I get sick of em rolling easier, swap back, get bored, swap again, on and on it goes.

Got my maxx running great just before dark. Only thing is it still is getting hot. But she will idle and runs a whole tank before she gets to hot. Then top end cuts out a little. Idle, Mid, and top end seem good, so why is it still getting hot? Also have a fuel leak some were. Either where the head mount on or where the muffler mounts to the block. That could cause it to over heat I would think.

snookman ,do you actully run that .? I see fuel or was that put in for the pic.freakin clean i have one thas tore apart and it is not that clean. and wear can you get the round body posts?

I run it every now and then just for kicks and to remember just how much more unstable the original narrow maxx is compared to the new models with the longer chassis and wider suspension.
I retired the one I have in storage as it has only been run a coupe of times and some of the original parts are getting hard to find. I broke one of the original shock towers that do not have the x bracing supports in the center and it took a while to find an exact replacement. The round posts are also getting harder to find as time passes. I purchased about 10 sets a few years ago for my stash.
