Ok, so i picked up a XXXNT last week, and now fitted it with a brand new .12 CVR. I did have to rob a carb (10E Rotary) off an OS .15 CV because the stock was a slider (10C). Reset the needles to factory after installing it.

I Made an attempt at breaking it in last night, even tho it was a little cold, but had problems - never got it to start. The pull starter wouldn't crank the motor over, only 1 pump then it'd just pull freely. I was going to take the engine back today (this just seems a little wrong?) but before, I tried pullin it a few times - turned over no problem. I'll blame lastnight on it just being a bit colder than I thought, causing too much compression.

So it fires up, spittin out fuel like crazy, and dies off right away. Did this a few times, i had to give it a little throttle to keep it running - at which point it would run, but as soon as I removed the glow-plug ignitor, it'd shut off. I thought this was odd, so i was hoping somebody here will have some ideas of whats going on? I'm done tryn to break it in for now, its gonna be too cold outside.

Any clue? Thanks for your help guys!

Just a hair (1/16th) of a turn too rich on the high needle. Lean it down just a smidge. If you don't have it already, grab a temp gun and set it so it runs around 210F.

Its just too rich :) I ususally brake engines in with the igniter in there till it warms up. I've seen people just brake it in with it on there the whole first part of brake in. after you put it threw the heat cycle you will be leaning the low speed anyway. O.S makes good engines i got a .12 TZ ... that thing was difficult to brake in... actually I'm going to have to brake it in again i have a new piston and sleeve comming in and I'm going to rebuild it. Good luck with brake in. And easiest thing to do is just follow the instructions that the engine comes with.[/QUOTE]
