Is this a good or bad idea for the T-Maxx, I am getting ready to purchase the FOC and I was wondering if the single speed only was a good or bad idea.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, but I figured I would ask here before I bought.

I know you guys have the right answers.

There's advantages and disadvantages. Overall, you won't have as much acceleration ralative to top speed as you would with a two speed. But it'll simplify the drive train and you won't really have to deal with tuning 2nd gear to hit at a certain RPM. Also, i'm sure you'll have less mass on the drivetrain which will drop the weight a little bit and help with acceleration.

Domination, you can changed the gearing so the truck doesn't top out as fast.

i actually like it, constant speed, no shifting problems. if ur racing its really nice.

now, I am getting confused.

I dont race, just play. I like jumping, and riding in the yard and ditches.

just stick with the 2speed if ur gona bash. if u go to 1 speed, u can tune it to ur liking and stuff. But definately get the FOC, u will notice a big difference, u hit the throttle and u got power to the wheels.

FOC is F- Forward O- Only C- Conversion. its a kit u can buy that takes out the reverse gears and accesories and u put in the forward only shaft and gears. a great hop-up for i think.. $12?

I got the FOC and the Single Speed to work in there.

I am starting out with an 18 tooth stock clutch gear, and a 70 tooth spur. I get off work in 10 minutes, so I am going home and putting it all back together, along with the new exhaust header and pipe.

Should be fun, the transmission weighs about half of what it did.

thanks maxx will this make the truck more stable

I'm assuming that is a question. but puttin the FOC in will allow the tranny to be more smooth. no more jerky feeling when u give it the throttle, almost instant power. and most people dont use there reverse that much. i know with my reverse i always had problems shifting back and forth.

Yeah, I agree. Shifting to reverse is a pain in the arse sometimes. but just sometimes... why does sometimes always have to be all the way down the street though?
