The rings on mine are VERY easy to turn. Too easy. Also, doesn't even seem as if I need the top 3/4 inch of the threading if in fact the springs wont reach it because the bottom spring retainers are lower than stock. This also causes the bottom retainer to come too close to the Arm under high compression.
So, now I also need to use something to create standoffs. Personally, I've tried the fuel tubing and didnt care for it. After a short time it tends to break down from the pounding. So I decided that 'line carrier' for planes would do the trick. Sure enough, doesn't break down. Also, as an added measure, I use washers on both side of the shock cap. This will prevent the shock from sliding over the head of the screw. Under force, especially if using fuel line, you can force a shock over the head on a Savage. I did it by hand. (Again, this is only with the Hot Bodies 61161 threaded alum. shock). I used this mod on the TMaxx and it worked VERY well. DarthRacer has also used the line/rod carrier hard tubing with washers for mounts and had good luck.
Also, the limitters that come with the HB set are too long for me. Granted, I dont really want the shocks to bottom all that often but to cut the travel by an inch seems to be counter productive. Especially in WOT turns. The Savage soaks these up better than a Maxx for that very reason. I'm prob going to cut a half an inch off. (Not to mention, I prefer the inner shock plate to get a little closer to the top of the shock body when bleeding them - makes for a better fill)
Lastly, I dont think you should be able to turn adjustment rings past the threading. Usually, as in an AE shock, they will close off the threading so the ring doesn't travel past its intended points of usefulness.
Id like to see Dynamite or AE come out with a set for the Savage.
