High density foam for front bumpers?

Looks like a good selection of all sorts of different types of foam. I made my first bumper using the foam cutter and I'm really pleased. Using the wire attachment I cut the outline using a cardboard template then used the straight attachment for the plunge holes. I then used the U attachment...

High density foam for front bumpers?

Wow the foam cutter is amazing! Even without any experience I was able to use it effectively with a little practice. Doom! and WickedFog, you guys are great I really appreciate the tips! When I hand cut (gnawed?) the first one I made it too small on the body edge, so I didn't remove any material...

High density foam for front bumpers?

The wood template is a good idea, I'll make some up. I've got about 4 or 5 cars that need better bumpers (I'm a crappy driver) so hopefully will work out.

High density foam for front bumpers?

Great! cheaper and probably the same stuff. I ordered the cutter DOOM! suggested, it will be here tomorrow. If I can cut this stuff accurately, there's a LOT of uses for it...

High density foam for front bumpers?

If they're like my wife's, the thickness is right but I don't think they are as dense. They have hard outer shells with more porous foam in-between. Our R/C bumper application requires impact reduction from the edge as opposed to between faces. :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: Perfect...

High density foam for front bumpers?

Got the "ballistic plate" foam pad substitutes today, the material seems identical to the original Rlaarlo foam. Only difference is it is 20mm thick instead of 14.5mm. Each piece is about 9" x 12" with upper corners angle cut. Hardness, color and stiffness are the same, and closer inspection...

High density foam for front bumpers?

Found these and ordered them. .80 thick, but I think I can work with that... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S5Q8WK7?psc=1&smid=A564GXGWR1RZX&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp Be here tomorrow, will report on suitability after I test it a bit.

High density foam for front bumpers?

Same here. Too many choices and I've no idea what would work best. I've looked at anti-fatigue floor mats at Harbor Freight but they're not stiff enough. Also looked at gardening kneeling pads but too thick. Ideally, 1/2" would be best. The wife has one, too thick and not firm enough. I may hit...

High density foam for front bumpers?

I've been looking all over for some bulk high density foam 1/2" thick to cut up for front bumpers. Anybody have a line on the material the manufacturers use? Is there any other material that will serve the same function? Any suggestions are greatly welcomed...
