Ok so I was out breaking in my new os .21 today and was doing it exactly by the book. 4th tank in it just quit's I'm like ok so I try to restart it pull start is locked I'm like ok the one way bearing has gone bad so I take the motor out and try to turn it by hand locked solid! Evidently I got the defective motor that prob got built on Friday lol. Thank god my local hobby shop called up os and there going to make good on it and give me a new one Monday. Kinda sucks but atleast there making good on it. Thats exactly why when I make big purchase's such as a $250 os engine I buy it at my lhs. Before I get hit about it being stuck TDC it's not the tech at my lhs took the motor apart and the whole connecting rod assembly is broke including the crank. What really sucks is I have been waiting for almost two weeks to break this engine in and I was almost done with the break in when it desided to break. ;(. This is my first os engine I have ever bought and as of now I'm not super impressed with it. LOL:\

Oh and they may not have another one till late Monday but maybe Thursday. ;(
 
Had the same thing happen with my Losi 3.4. Difference was I had run a half gallon through it.
 
I guess a half gallon is a little better than 4 tanks lol. Did Losi make good on it for you?
 
OS has pretty solid quality. It stinks that you got the friday afternoon motor but look at it this way. They could have renigged and said you didnt do the breakin properly and then leave you broke in the wallet and in your RC. I hear Losi can be difficult to deal with but havent had 1 yet
 
Yea they could have tried that but my lhs tech vouched for me and told them I am a loyal customer that knows what I'm doing. The engine actually carries a two year warranty but considering I was 4 tanks in they said they would just send me a new one and my lhs is sending them the tore up one back to them. I am still disappointed though I really thought I had bought me a good motor. Maybe i will have better luck with the next one.

Actually, they told me that because of the nature of the hobby, the warranty expire the first time I started it. However, they warrantied it anyway out of courtesy.

Yea in most cases thats how it usually is. Thats one of the main reason's I went with os though is for the two year warranty long as the motor has not been abused. Considering I just picked the motor up Wed since the first one they gave me was the wrong one so my lhs had to order me one from os and it just got here Wed. If OS wouldn't of made good on this I would have had a complete poop fit on them for sure. I'm pretty sure since I pay my lhs rent, light bill, and water lol they wouldn't have let them give me the run around either. ;)

Man it was flying at 1/4 throttle lol. Actually I just got a call from my lhs tech and he said os over nighted a motor and I should have it tomorrow. ;)
 
which exact os is this? can i get a link, and what are you putting it in friend? got a pic of the rig?
 
Os .21 and it's in a revo. I can't upload pics from my phone but there are some pics on here of it and soon as I find them I will let you know what it is under.

It's under os .21 engine revo under nitro talk. I'm the one that opened the thread if that helps. It has pics from the first day I got it to recent pics.
 
That really sucks man. I hate when stuff like that happens. I just blasted the rod in my Picco .28 Team Turbo. It happened at full throttle too. That will leave a mark. I'll post up pictures tonight. At least OS is making good on getting you a new one.
 
Look at it this way, since it blew up that fast, you didn't waste too much fuel on it. I'd be much more aggravated, if it blew up right after break in. A gallon or more of fuel right down the drain, and they're not gonna compensate you for that.
 
Yea it does suck and I hate breaking in a engine it's so boring. Oh well atleast I should have a brand new one today. ;)
 
Thanks bro. I wish I had a video of it running with the os. I will soon I got a brand new one coming hopefully today. ;)
