Hey guys, I've been in the hobby since the early tamiya frog/lunchbox years. I just picked up an XTM Mammoth ST and I need a little help with the spur gears.

I am not familiar with XTM'S stuff, I stripped out both nylon spur gears and I dont want to continue replacing them with junk nylon every couple of tanks.

Locating steel spur gears has been next to impossible so far. I know there is a couple of differentail and center gear options to change out the 2 speed spur gears. The problem is I need some details and hopefully some part#'s on what I need to alleviate my problem.

I've found some threads hinting about the upgrades, but no in depth info or direction. If you guys can hook me up it would be greately appreciated. The XTM Mammoth ST is all stock with the 24.7ci motor, 2 speed trans and it has :p:the rotostart conversion.

Center diff gear:

Can't seem to find the complete center diff...
Found the cup and whanot to build the center out of:

Not sure of the output drive cups though. I can't remember if the cups from teh two speed will work on the center diff.

This will get you a list of what hobby people has for the most part:

I had one many years ago. The reason your spurs fry is because the alloy they use for everything is so soft and the chassis is so long that it twists and flexes on you when landing or running over rough stuff. The thing flexes enough to allow the bell/spur mesh to get off and it just chews up the spurs.

The most durable route is to run a center diff with steel spur as the diffs are known to be pretty weak (planetary gear type vs spider gear type). Having a center diff takes some of the stress off the front/rear diffs and helps them last longer.

Thanks, bro. I appreciate it, hhhhmmmm Maybe I can find some chassis braces ?

Thanks guys, you rock !!!!

Hey guys, thanks for all the help and advice. I done my homework and made a package deal with hobby people. I just ordered

2 steel spur gears, 61 & 66 tooth.
2 5mm aluminum shock towers.
front and rear chassis braces
complete reverse system
2 sure start joints
sway bar set

Grand total was a $166 and some change, Ouch !!!!
When shes done she'll decimate all, This 1/8" monster runs over t-maxxe's like speedbumps, he he he he he he .

Kudos for the help guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!.:p:

I probably would have skipped the reverse. Not sure how well it's built and it just adds more mess to the chassis to deal with.
