hey guys i got the ss kit built and broken in but noticed that when i am driving it and let off the gas, i have to hit the brake for the throttle to come back to idle. it doesn't stay all the way open, not even a quarter of the way. i'm wondering what it is that's causing that. i have the throttle return spring on. i'm using the hpi-sf1 servo. i think that i may need to adjust the length of the linkage that goes to the carburetor slide. do u think that's what it is?

Mine is doing the same thing, but I have to blip the throttle to get it to die back down... I'll be lurking..

no my trim is at 0. and i've read that their is a mod that u can do (which doesn't cost any $) to the servo horn on the throttle servo to make this stop...anyways, here's the link:
http://www.savage-central.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=78252&highlight=brake

from the picture, it looks like u just dremel a small piece off of the steel ring that is in the servo horn, so when u let off the throttle and give brake it doesn't move the carburetor slide at all. everyone that's done it says it is fool proof and works flawlessly. here's a pic of what u need to do:

i'll be tryin this sometime in the next few days, and let u guys know how it works.

yea she's centered. i'll run it over tomorrow and see if i can't do something so i don't have to dremel the steel ring from the picture. if i can't fix it, then i'll go that route, then if that doesn't work, i'll go with the ofna mod i guess. i remember the savage x 4.6 RTR i had back in 2008 and I don't recall having this issue with it...weird.....:/

hey guys...i did the brake mod, exactly like the picture shows...when i give it throttle and let off it returns to neutral, but when i hit full brakes and let off it returns and leave the throttle open a little bit, and the carb slide won't return till i give it throttle again. has anyone did this mod? i've read that you need to have your throttle return spring working flawlessly, which mine does...anyone got any ideas? i've read that the stock TRS is very strong and that you can stretch it a little bit and put it on the side of the TVP. has anyone done this? also, where do you guys have your carb slide positioned? mine is positioned straight up, so when i have the TRS on it's rubbing against the dust boot, and i know with time that it'll tear a hole in it. what can i do to prevent this? i know that if i mount it towards the left a little bit, (pointing towards the spur gear) that it'll hit the spur gear. sorry for such a long post...lol

it's at 0. i have a DX3S radio and it's on 0, and the servo horn is centered. when i give throttle and let off, it's fine. but when i give brake and let off, that's when it does it. but right after that, if i give it throttle again and let off, it's back to center and good

Sounds like it could still be binding in the linkage. I'd center the adjustment on the transmitter, then re-center the servo so I have adjustment each way. If your using the stock hpi servos, they may not be going back to the exact same center from both directions of movement. Hpi servos are on the cheap side. But if you could click the trim back a hair, it would probably fix the problem. Then if it doesn't quite go wide open, set the epa to let the servo travel a bit further, or unscrew the ball cap on the linkage a hair. Then loosen your brakes a hair if need be.

are you familiar with this mod i'm talking about? the problem i am having is when i push the brake and let off, the carb stays open a bit. however, the bottom part of the servo horn (the part that goes to the brake linkage) returns to center. it's not until i give it throttle again and let off, that the top part of the servo horn(throttle part) returns to center and is even with the bottom part. hope that isn't confusing. i will check for binding when i get a chance. i'm glad i'm going through this now and not mid bash season!!!!

yea buddy the throttle and brake linkage are on the same horn, but it is two pieces with a steel ring in between them. if you look a few posts above, i did the brake mod as listed there. basically you dremel a piece of the metal ring in between the two pieces of the servo horn so when you apply brakes, it just turns the brake piece of the servo horn and not both together. read the post above if this confuses you. thanks for all the help

i'll get up a pic of what i'm talking about tomorrow evening. i'll post a full throttle pic, and a full brake pic.

ok so i know that you were waiting on pictures, but i got it working. it was the throttle return spring. in order for this mod to work you have to have the TRS working flawlessly. they weren't kidding when they said flawlessly!!! anyways, the brakes on this thing are insane now... words can't describe it
