The battery jump pack i bought has a lead that plugs directly into the reciever but it has the wrong lead to pluginto the on/off switch. can i snip the wires and splice them with the lead from my stock AA reciever pack without compromising the voltage from the battery to the reciever? should i just bypass the on/off switch and start plugging directly into the reciever or should i just buy the right battery pack and eat my $$ loss?

You can also buy the ends and a hobby crimper so if that happens in the future you can just crimp a new end on it. or you can get adapters that will change one into the other. www.hobbyking.com sells a bunch of things of this nature. What you did there is fine too though :)

I usually solder a splice and use heat shrink tubing over it to make sure that the connection stays connected and doesn't cause a run away or loss of power.

the pins on the end are still crimped on hamz so I fail to see the difference.

Wss referring to OP's pic, not the use of crimps. I use them, too.
