where do i get foam tires at

Go to your LHS. Otherwise, browse the net, go to towerhobbies.com or even go to the "links" section of RCNT. That's a good start. Before you start making orders, make sure you research the proper shore to get for the conditions you will be driving in. Also take note that the setup for foams is different (more aggressive) when compared to rubber tires. The back of your manual will give you the setup you need ... toe, camber, droop and caster. All these adjustments are needed to reapthe bennefits of using foams. Otherwise, you will be understeering a lot and pushing in the corners.

The NTC3 has an inherrant "Push" that can only be alleviated so much. Most of the time it can be solved with the shore of the foams and/or your toe adjustments of you don't have sway bars. If you have sway bars, the front spring rate or blade angle will be the guilty party. Do adjustments one at a time so you don't get lost or overwhelmed with the results. Also keep notes on your settings so you have a refference to go back to and start over.

A Hudy or Integy board will be very useful at this point. Suspension tweak board will help even more.

DL, which one of those is the best, i figured the Elligie's over the Jaco, but the shore and mm? 30 w/ 45 shore?? Front and back. LMK i am going to buy two of those sets.

Skyline, I haven't seen where you run so I am assuming it's just everyday tarmac. I would suggest getting 2 sets 37Ffront/35Rear and 40 Front/35 Rear. Both with 30mm rear foams. Now that it's getting colder, you may want to try 35 shore all around, but at least go with 37 in the front.

If the tires come with the stickers, don't forget to put those stickers on the outside wall of the tire to prevent chunking. If they don't come with the sticers, an old trick is to put CA (thin). Make sure it doesn't get on the running surface otherwise you'll compromise your traction till the CA gets worn out, even chunking them prematurely.

BTW, I found that when trying out different manufacturers, jaco's will chunk before Ellegi's. You may also want to look at Spedminds and TRC. Those are the 3 brands I run, in that order ... Ellegi, Speedmind & TRC.

What Diver said is correct. The 30mm is for the rear only. 26 or 28mm in the front. And the Ellegi's and TRC are my top choices.

thanks alot for the info!

Also write the size and shore rating on the inside of the rim so you will always know what it is. The foams should come with little stickers for you to write them on and stick on the inside. A regular sharpie will work just as well.

As your foams start to wear out and get smaller, you will have to readjust your ride height. When you see your rear tires start to "cone" don't panic. It's supposed to do that. Just make sure the smaller diameter is on the inside of the wheel.

get ones with higher shore rattings. Those are the hardest ratings. The softer ones will chuck out very easily.

Is it a smoothed over surface? Is it painted concrete? Is it textured concrete like the sidewalk? Let me know what kind of surface first since concrete surfaces come i diffrent grades.

As far as I remeber it is smoothed surface. This where go karts are running in winter (indoor). I just heard that sometimes thet run RC races.

Will rubber tires hold on this surface?

rubber tires dont do good in the cold from what i have seen. the concrete will definitly be cold so fomas are best bet.

You may want to go 37 shore Front/35 shore Rear (30mm). Definitely start off with this set-up but bring some other foams of different ratings to play around and see how they handle. For the fronts go with 35,37,40,42 (all 26-28mm) for the rears go with the same ratings but in 30mm size. It'll get expensive buying all these and you don't have to do it all at once. Just try the 37/35 combo first and bring a set of 42/37 as a back up so you at least have a comparisson.

Sometimes it's hard to get the 30mm for the rear depending on your LHS. So u can use 28mm for the rear as well. Nothing smaller though.

That is some good infl Diver.

Hey Team17, do you know what shore, and size comes with the MTX-3, and these other foam manufacturers, doesn't Mugen take a special back spacing?

Ford Junkie

Who cares what the car came with from Mugen :spit: You will burn them off in the qaulifiers even before the Mains :hammer: Sit, knowin' you, you will kill them in pracitice!!! We will get some 30's for the rear and some 35's for the fronts to get you hooked up for the Mains  :jk:

Oo, :boxing:

I'm not taking this $hit from a newbie! LOL!!!!!!! :jk:
Nice to see you on the site.

I was mostly wanting to know what shore the stock foams were so that when I buy some new ones I can get a differant shore to see the differance. The fact is, weather permitting, the stock ones probably won't make it to a qualifier.

Yo Mezz

Shore Shore Shore are u sure? Lower number softer compound. We can probably compare them to a set of mine and get a pretty good idea of what the stock shore sea shore is....later
