Not eating out if pots and pans anymore? Are you copying @Ritz413 , now?
I did some eating out of the pot last night , I just didn't think this lot could handle that level of excitement.

I bring all the class to this party.....it's all low class, but that's what i have so that's what I bring.

Pia cakes
One of my guilty pleasures. The Asian market I go to doesn't always have these on the shelf (damn it). A flaky pastry with a mung bean and pineapple filling. There're many versions of these small cakes and those with Durian fruit are not my favorite. Originally from China they made their way to Vietnam in the 17th century by Chinese immigrants. These are a product of Vietnam 😋😋😋.

I'm guessing the bottom pic, is a pic from the internet, because that round thing inside the cake looks to be a salted egg yolk. Which, of course, would not make it vegetarian.
I love the combination of sweet, salty, and savory of these pastries!

Well done Watson. You are absolutely correct. It's usually a duck egg and I prefer my Pia cakes without eggs.

Man, I got behind on this thread!

Been a long time since I have had just regular white bread for my pb, and j....I don't remember it being so much less durable than the pb I tried to spread on it. It will be a long time before I get it again.View attachment 271871
You can nuke the pb for a few seconds to make it spread easier. I usually nuke a couple spoonfulls to pour over my pancakes 😋

Dal maharani and mango custard with nuts at my new Indian neighbours. They also had really great fried snacks I couldn't understand🫠
The fried cottage cheese balls are confusing. It's like how do Mexican restaurants deep fry ice cream 🤔

You ever tried Ube bread? @Greywolf74 turned me onto it. It's from the Philippines.

I can honestly say no I have not, but I'm up for givin' it a try. Next time I'm at the market I'll look it up 😎👍!
Greywolf's wife is Filipino, so he gets to try all the authentic stuff. Plus they have a Filipino grocery nearby. When I tried some of the Filipino stuff I had to order it online. The Ube jam tasted really good, but I got the feeling it was past its best by date because it was more like concrete that was just a few minutes before curing 😆

But the other Ube stuff I got was really good. I've never tasted anything like it.

If you find Filipino groceries close by, be sure to check out the banana ketchup 😁😋😋😋

Well, I have tried a few of the Hudsonville ice cream flavors. All very good. Traverse City Cherry Fudge, black cherry, butter pecan, etc. Yesterday I saw a peach cobbler. Hmm.

I have loved the few flavors of Hudsonville ice cream I have tried, but this peach cobbler is a swing and a miss. It tastes like a chemical spill ran into the peach flavoring. Not bright, but dark and almost like something is pretty burnt.

Then there is the texture. With the flavor making me quesrion what I was eating, after a few bites I started to come up with some ideas. I was expecting bits of pie crust. Maybe even some pecans or something. But nope. There were bits that made me kinda cringe though. I seriously started to think they skipped peeling and pitting the peaches. Another bite and I became certain they even skipped pulling the leaves and stems off. Then after a couple more bites, I am almost certain instead of harvesting the peaches they simply cut down the tree and fed it into a mulcher spraying shrapnel right into the vat of ice cream. I don't see how there's any other way for peach cobbler ice cream to have a taste and texture exactly like that.
