I'm kind of a newbie too, but I guess it depends on what you are running. Nitro/electric. I run nitro and I carry 2 toolboxes with me to the field. A few things I carry are....extra batteries, chargers, xtra glow plugs, spur gears, Allen wrenches, glow plug ignitor, and charger, Phillips head screwdriver, flathead, there's all kinds of stuff needed for the arsenal. I hate getting out there wishing I didn't forget something back at the house. I'm sure I've got more, but those are the important things, IMO. Can never have enough. Just try to make sure you have 2 of everything and bash your brains out!!!!! ;)

I'm my field box, for my nitros
- SAE Allan driver set
- Met Allan driver Set
- Temp Gun
- Long thin flat screwdriver (for carb adjusting)
- #1 - #3 Phillips Screwdrivers
- Needle Nose pliers
- Lineman pliers
- small vice grips
- magnet
- tackle box insert for little extra screws, body clips, locktight, that sort of stuff
- C Size glow stick
- AA size glow stick
- Roto Start for my RS4.
- T- Wrench for glow plugs

now in my "home" box..... it's pretty deep...i've been in the hobby for a long time, and i've gathered a ton of stuff along the way.

Shoe Goo and CA glue are also useful as is an Exacto knife. If you're a bit accident prone like me, add some bandages....

could any1 post any pix of they're tools?
that would help me more as i sayed I'm a beginner it would be better for me to see the picture
thanks...

Wrenches (any of these are good):

Pliers, Vise grips, General screw drivers, Dremel

Or a different brand rotary tool (I have this one):

If nitro:
Glow heater (I proffer the twist lock kind like this):

Fuel bottle:

Stay away from ones like these, they tend to leak around the pipe and cap:

I take only the essentials now when I go bash. I usually take more than one truck and two glow heaters, fuel, parts box (with misc bolts/nuts/washers/springs) and a small tool bag. When one truck breaks, I switch to the other. Honestly though... I don't break very often as I build my rigs to take a pretty good beating and keep going.

Getting a carry all works nice. I had one without wheels a few years ago (Wingtote), but my wife picked me up one with wheels and I really like it (HPI bag). Wish it had a shoulder strap, but it's still better than one without wheels.

This is a 1" extended savage in that bag with my little tool bag, parts box and whatnot:

Aftershock in the same bag:

hi,
i have another stupid question but it will be usefull for me
what is the best fuel for an onroad car?
THANKS

Byron's is my preferred fuel. There's other quality fuels too. Others will chime in. Another thing no newbie should leave home without is their instruction manual.

Top Fuel is my choice but have not realy used more than one kind of nitro

I like byrons as well. Have ran many others (blue thunder, trinity, odonnels...) and byrons seems to run the best for me.

thanks guys i have another question i have noticed that there is different % of fuel 16%,25% ect.so can you use any % of fuel?or is there different fuel for different car?
THANKS

20% is the standard. Most engines come with a compression ratio suited to 20%.

alrite thnx

but if i have a buggy and I'm using 16% fuel can i use any other % e.g 20%?
would that be alrite?
THANKS

I'm new too and i have a nervous tremor so have found hemostats very useful for holding small parts and i even have a pair that I have smear epoxy putty in the jaws to make them non marring

for fuel in my offroad truck, i use byrons 20%
