so i have a rustler vxl that started as a xl5 stampede....i still have the stock gearing for the xl5 pede installed and i was wondering if i should change it since i went to the brushless and am planning on changing the tires...not sure how to figure out what i need so i thought you guys may help me...for tires I'm thinking about going with the 2.8 trenchers since i mostly bash..anyone have any suggestions....thanks..

I would say start with 76T spur and a 25T pinion and check temps....if it doesn't get about 145 then use a slightly larger pinion untill your motor reaches but never exceeds 145F

I run mine with 31/76 and although it overheats after 15 minutes with the body on, if I keep it off it never over heats. I use this for top speed runs, with 3s lipo

stock was a 19 pinion and a 90 spur...that was the stock gearing for the brushed pede it started as...i figure goin brushless and a little bigger tire would warrant a little lower gearing...i ordered a couple smaller pinions so hopefully i can work something out...

If you're overheating with the body on, you might try cutting some holes for air flow like they do on nitros.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll integrate air ducts directly to the esc. Get some good air flow going.
