What did you print today??

Going to give the 1/10 scale flares a shot in TPU. Mock up beds are nested and printing 1/10 and 1/24 right now. Then I can get positioning and mounts figured out. I designed up a canopy for the bed so that is next on the printer after I run the flares and some PLApro detail parts like hinges, wipers, and handles.

Chose the wrong infill pattern when printing the cab, it's going to get shot with a matte or flat paint so we'll see how it looks. I will probably reprint the cab with the roof attached but didn't want to spend the time and materials for the supports it takes to do them together for a mockup print.

I need to pull the bumpers and fender extensions off the chassis. Not sure if I'm going to have to modify the body or the Traxxas fenders to make it fit. I thought about going back to the stock shock towers but I really appreciate how clean the inner fenders keep the inside of the truck.

TPU fenders turned out of, couple of little strings but they will work for now.

1 of 4 doors for the side of the canopy I'm designing for my Mighty FC build. 2 per side. They theoretically can be rolled up for access to interior body pins and a couple of small toggle switches I'm adding for the lights that run directly off the battery.

And some trays I drew up for storing my diecast cars. I was putting my diorama stuff away when I started rearranging the hobby room and realized I had more cars than storage because I started opening pretty much everything.

I drew up some feet that clip to the top rail and allow the trays to nest together. Canopy is on the printer now though so that will have to wait.

I've been playing with TPU a bit since I got the new printer and decided I wanted a different option for the Mighty FC. So along with working on revising the canopy from it's first design I made a tonneau cover. I think the support bows need to be a little taller and thinner to give it that classic tonneau look but for a first draft I'm happy with it.

.6 mm thick TPU sandwiched with a clamp ring to the base.

Canopy is getting a heavy redesign but I'll run this one for a while so I'm finishing it out a bit.

I redesigned the TPU rear fender flares with a flap that will work as a fender liner once I trim them and get them into place.

Nice job! Your infill should not be seen like that. Try making your walls thicker. Whatever thickness they are now, try adding on a few layers and see if it hides the infill.

Good call, I went back and looked at my settings from when I printed it and I thought I had changed it to 3 walls but I guess I left it at 1. Talking to a couple of other people that have printed it they said that the cubic subdivision infill gave them similar issues and it was probably accentuated by this being a quick and dirty print for mockup and fitment so I wanted it to be a pretty fast print.

I did throw a coat of my favorite Rustoleum Concrete finish on it and it covered a lot of it. My intention is when I get through some other projects to reprint the cab with the roof as one piece and put it aside until I break this one or get tired of looking at it haha. The cab is PETG and the bed is PLA pro so we will see which gives out first.

I like the strength of the cubic subdivision infill so I will probably add some walls and density to the infill before I print it again and it should come out smoother.

Printed some Rear tail lights for my Infraction

Back on my diecast garage project. I posted my make on Thingiverse this weekend and the designer said he thought it was better than his. I don't know about that but I'm pretty happy with where it's headed. It was originally many more individual pieces but since I have the large printer I melded all the parts together to take it from 20+ pieces to 5 main ones.

The parking lines are actually inlays.

Layered lighting allows for lots of changes.

have been laying low for the last bit since I started the chemo course.. But thats done, last treatment was last thursday.. Been busy printing bike stuff , well trike stuff. .. A set of fenders for this trike costs more than a bike at wal-mart and they rattle like mad.. Some designing and about $10 worth in flo orange PETG later I have a full fender set that doesn't rattle like a bucket of loose change with every bump..LOL I am currently printing an extension for the rear fender that will wrap the tire better and also house my "BLINKY" rear light.

My Ford F450 PU Truck has no bumper mounts or hitch receiver.
The one on this back bracket whatever the hell it is, is too small for all of my hitches so I had to make mine bigger to fit.

So I made my own.

The bumper mount is adjustable vertically and forward and back.
I was thinking about making a spring dampening system in the pumper mount to absorb small collisions. Anyone done that?
The bumpers are next.

The hitch even passes the truck lift test.
