Good evening to all-
The morning was flat calm and after the dawn fog lifted, I knew I had to go a'flyin. So, I took up my old yellow XK Staggerwing plane and made my way down to the flying field.
Fellers, I do treasure this biplane. It needs a long scale take off run, but once in the air, it flies very well and stays under complete control, and it looks so very good as it makes its way across the sky.
Now, it's not perfect. It will loop- it has large elevators and rudder- but it does not like to do rolls. It only has ailerons on the lower wings, so it has quite a bit of resistance to rolling. the only way I will try to roll it is to run her way up high and then turn on the transmitter- which is not the top of the line radio, I promise- to the third level of control and then roll the plane over. It usually dives at an alarming rate when I do this, so I don't do this very often. But for scale flying and just toodling around looking good, this plane is perhaps my favorite.
And Fellers, I see that it is selling now on ebay and other places for less than $120- and for this plane, transmitter and battery, is a great deal. if I didn't already have several of this model already hanging on the wall, I would order another one.
But it was a grand way to start a day, I promise you.
you all be safe and keep well- Ed
