had a scx10 a while back and like an idiot i traded it off. but after months of searching on craigslist and other places, i am talking trades with a guy for another scx10. so in anticipation of the new truck, I've been looking at alot of scalers online and trying to find a look that i like and still be diffrent from the rest of the crowd while still having a fun and capable rig that my wife isnt going to shoot me over when she finds out how much cash I've spent on my "toy" lmao. anyway, i think i wanna put leaf suspension on it and run 2.2's. i want it to capable on the rocks, but still want it to be able to have some top end speed for the trail runs. i already have a killer set of 2.2's, hot racing dark knight aluminum beadlocks with proline switch tires, prolly not the best crawler style tire but it looks good on those wheels. what I'm having issues with finding is a leaf suspension setup that i would be confident would fit the scx10 rtr chassis that are not gonna break my bank. any ideas?

having trouble finding that setup available anywhere... got any suggestions?
the last scx i had i experienced slipper issues, what do you suggest to eliminate the slipper?

To eliminate the slipper problem you will need to replace a few parts to eliminate the slipper all together.

I would also replace the transmission out drive shafts

Just remember by eliminating the slipper you are going to add stress to other parts and will just keep finding the next weakest link in the drive train untill it is all beefed up and solid, for me it finally ended up being my CVD's.

so i got the scx on the trade, stopped by the hobby shop and picked up the aluminum bars for the steering, and while i was there i ran into a buddy who i trade with alot. he has a set of the rcbros leaf kit, shackles, and scale shocks he is gonna sell me for 50 bux! he said it made his truck ride too high for his liking. so i will get those somtime this week. and SNG you were right, the proline switch tires are horrible for a scaler. they look awesome for like a street style tire, but not in the dirt so much. whats a good capable tire that looks good and scale for a 2.2 wheel?

any one know where i could find a 1946 willys jeep body? or something very close to it that will fit the scx chassis. any help would be great. I'm gonna post up some pics soon.

found this, probably not what ur looking for though.

The closest I know about is the Willys truck body by Axial, the B-17 Betty.

Why go with 2.2? go with a nice set of 1.9's.

i think that will work well actually. cut out the roof and all that stuff in the back, add a scale interior and build a simple cage with it to get the stock old school jeep look. i might have to trim the fenders a little bit too. now the thing is finding someplace where its in stock.

alpine- going with the 2.2 wheels cause thats what i got and dont have to spend any more money on. the wife gets angry when i spend it on rc stuff... so i try not to tell her ;) but I'm not opposed to a 1.9, I'm using the stock flat irons till i get some better than the switches i have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the stock wheels/tires 1.9.

The SCX-10 uses 1.9 tires and wheels stock. Pro-Line makes a Wrangler 4-Door (JK) shell that you could mod as well.

When the old lady starts complaining that much time to upgrade!LOL:p:

ok guys, sorry its taken so long for me to get some pictures up on here of my progress on the scx10. had a accident at work and tore up my foot and ankle AGAIN. so I've been away from the rc stuff for about a month or so now. anyway lets get back to the truck. i weighted the wheels with some 9mm shells stuffed with lead pellets, then cut some clear plastic and used some silicon to make some window panels in the cage above the front seats, and i took apart a bad computer hard drive and used one of the disks inside it to make the tire cover. exhaust is from a walmart rc car. i also have a custom body in the works, this rig came with a K5 blazer body as well. never was much a fan of the blazers, so I'm working on turning that into a pickup body. still a work in progress, but shouldnt be much longer before its done. anyway, thats enough chatter, on to the pictures.:first_place:
