I'm pretty new to the rc world(only a few months) and i have a few nitro trucks. well now i want to build a crawler. nothing crazy, just somthing i can play around with on some rocks and mess around with in the house when i can't run my nitro trucks outside. so this is what i was thinking

ax-10 kit- http://www.rcplanet.com/Axial_Ax10_Scorpion_10Th_Scale_Rock_Crawler_p/axi90001.htm

motor and speed controller- http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?productid=866

steering servo-
http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Hitec-5955TG-Robot-Servo-Ultra-High-Torque-p-16189.html -this is a pretty expensive servo so ill probably go with http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Hitec-5645MG-p-16190.html

i have a traxxas controller and reciever, and i have some batteries already i would plan on using. what do you think? any suggestions? anything I'm missing?

I think you pretty much got it... The AX10 is a great choice, and an easy enjoyable build.. The HS5645 is more than enough to steer the Axial. It is a very light truck..
Remember to post pics of the build if you can... Good luck..:)

friggin sweet, ill just use that one then.

well ordered the truck, motor and esc today. should be here monday or so. i can't wait.

another quick question about the hs5645mg....... in the description it says

FEATURES: EPA, Speed, Direction, and Fail-Safe Programmable

does this mean i have to have the programmer too? thats more than the servo its self!!!! or can i run it without programming it?

No, you do not need the programmer.. You can set all those with your radio. If you dont have a high end radio, the servo will still work...

well i planned on just using stock traxxas radio equipment. so i would i be better off getting the hs645mg? i just dont want to get all flexed up on some rocks and not be able to turn when i need to. have enough problems like that with my 1:1 rig, and i know it gets annoying

I'm using an hs645mg on my Wheely King and it has no problem turning some 5.5" tall 2.2 tires lock to lock at a stand still. I run without a servo saver.

OK, my ax 10 should be showing up today(somtime). I'm pretty stoked.

i got my ax-10 yesterday. its a thing of beauty sitting there in that box. i got the tire foam trimmed and mounted on the bead locks. i went with the star cut for the foam, and the axles put together. i can't wait till i get home from work and have a chance to put some more together. i will probably have some questions when i get around to wiring up the esc and motor since I'm new to R/Cs in general, and REALLY new to electric r/cs.

Hey guys guess I'm a bit late and I forget the name anyhow but there is another truck out there that is off the hook I will snoop around and post it as soon as I find it,its a kit crawler but with all the goodies...the ax10 still rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so i suck at this "posting a build" thing, but what happend was......
i put it all together stock with the battery up top. COG sucked. so i used the top plate and made a brace so that it now runs at an angle down towards the front 3 linkmount. it helped with the top heavyness a bunch and its lots of fun.

oh and the tires and rims are apparently air tight, so it helps a lot if you drill a little hole in the rim(somwhere that you can't see it of course). after i did that they were gripping a lot better.

ill try to get some pics up today. i havent gotten around to painting the body yet either, so its still clear
